    GMA Covers

The cover arrived last night by way of the big brown truck. I went ahead and put it on the trailer this morning. It's a perfect fit and appears to be well made. The weight of the cover was around 35 pounds and it's thicker that I thought it would be. It has a 3 year warranty, so I guess they...

Deuce in Sebring, FL last week

I don't know if they are still keeping any over at Avon Park, but we used to have quite a few of them when I was stationed there. Smitty

    Wood for bows

If I can find a place that cuts it, does it need to be kiln dried or anything along those lines? I don't want this stuff warping after I get everything installed. As you might guess, I am at a loss when it comes to woodworking. Smitty

    Wood for bows

The only hardwood I found at Home Depot or Lowes was the thin stuff like one would use in furniture. It was also furniture grade and like you said, very expensive. Smitty

    Wood for bows

Well I figured I'd better get on the ball and cut the wood for the bows before my new top gets here. I have been to the wood suppliers in three towns to find some oak without any success. Actually, I haven't been able to find any type of hardwood. I went ahead and grabbed some pine and figure...

    GMA Covers

Update I received a call a few minutes ago from GMA. Something was wrong with their message notification system and they were not receiving their messages. The cover for the trailer is on the way! Smitty

    GMA Covers

I have been trying to contact GMA Cover Corp. for the past two weeks without any success. I have left messages on their voice mail and sent emails. Does anyone know if they are still open for business? Smitty

    Received My Metal Bow Corners

I need to get off my butt and get these things built. I just finished looking at all of the great photos from the rally in GA. I was at the end when I realized that I wasn't really looking at the vehicles, I was looking at the shapes of the bows.   Smitty

Re: bow Is the one on the bottom designed for a trailer? Smitty

    Received My Metal Bow Corners

You might be right. I went out yesterday and checked them against my side racks and they are the same width and thickness. If I get a chance, I'll drive around the base to see if I can find a trailer with the bows installed and compare. Smitty

    Received My Metal Bow Corners

Re: RE: Re: RE: Received My Metal Bow Corners Am I sure I have the right ones? No. Are they going to go on the M101A1? Yes, even if I need to modify... The inside diameter is around 1 5/8" x 1 3/16" ( I say "around", since my eyes aren't as good as they used to be...) I get 16" when I...

    Traction Aids up front

I had a Blazer with a Detroit in the rear and a Lockright in the front. This was my first vehicle with locked front and rear axles. There are times when I had very reduced steering with the front locker engaged. The reduced steering made me a firm believer in a selectable locker, at least for...

    Gas Powered Air Compressors

The air filters are on the list (along with a few other things) for this weekend. I need to get a couple of pressure gauges, oil filters, fuel filters, and a couple of assorted valves. I also need to order a couple of things from Saturn Surplus. Smitty

    Oil in Coolant???

Someone could have added anti-freeze and there might have been some oil reside in the transfer container. I'd be wanting to start it up before I bought it, these trucks usually start pretty easy with a jump or quick charge on the batteries. Smitty

    Received My Metal Bow Corners

Re: RE: Received My Metal Bow Corners Sorry, brain dump on my part. The trailer is an M101A1. My bow corners are a little different than those that you have pictured. I planned on using wood for the top cross piece and the down piece. Now I'm not too sure if wood will work for the down...

    Received My Metal Bow Corners

I have the metal corners for the bows, but I thought about something else as I was looking at the trailer. Do the bows have some type of metal shield/support on the bottom where they slide into the slots on the side racks? If so, are these available anywhere? Smitty

    Gas Powered Air Compressors

Both of these compressors have electric starters on them. I'm guessing that the engines do not recharge the battery since the only wires going to the starters are the battery cables and two wires for the push button switch. The battery cables have slick little lever actuated quick disconnects...

    Gas Powered Air Compressors

I'll see if I can get some pictures. Both of the compressors fit side-by-side in a M101 trailer without any problem. They weigh a little over 600 pounds each, so might be a little big for the regular service truck. I plan on keeping an air compressor, a generator, a pressure washer and a...
