I tried to find 255's, but the only ones I found were waaaay more expensive than the 285's.
The pic was just a generic pic I found online. The wheels are Unique model 42's.
Well, tire store was crazy today.
They mounted the 285's on two wheels, was working on the third when the manager came out and said they won't mount those tires on my wheels, saying the wheels are 16x6.5 and they won't do it. So, I said put the old tires back on and we'll call it a day, but...
Still have the finicky starter, but it's on my list of to-do's.
I made some videos of problems I had with Glow Plugs.
Stuck then broke!
I'm no mechanic, but a video like this would have been helpful for me, so here it is if anyone want's to watch.
It's three parts. Part 3 is my favorite.
Buying new tires tomorrow. After lots of searching, from what I can gather, the 285/75/16 will fit on the stock rims and springs with no lift kit. I'm crossing my fingers! I'll post pics!
Is it bad to run a spare tire of a different size? Say 235/85/16? Was considering keeping one of the old...
PM sent. I'm willing to go to Lewisville for a good recommendation.
On another note, I was able to get six of the glow plugs out. One was a bit of a fight with some vice grips. Thankfully, the other two are the first and third on the drivers side.
On the Harley, I would never put the plugs in...
On the 60G glow plugs, it so happens that the end is too wide to plug the wire in. Compared to the old plug, it's about 25% wider. The packaging says it's the ACDelco 60G. I guess I could replace the wire ends? Is there another option?
Also, do you recommend antiseize?
I'll verify which I have when I remove it. Rebuilding sounds like a cheaper option. I'll need to find a good shop in the area.
Also need to have a good shop do the injection pump too. It was leaking... actually gushing fuel, but after it's been started a few times and driven around a few...
Love this kind of recommendation!
Do you have a glow plug recommendation? I haven't been able to find any plugs locally, so going to order some online.
I have some confusion as to the starter. I thought I need a 24v starter, but the K-30 is 12v, right? I don't know what it means to have gear reduction. I'm trying to find part numbers and a how-to on replacing the starter now.
Does NAPA sell a 24v starter?
I know I had seen a thread where someone had done this, but I can't seem to find it now. I want to splice in a simple trailer light connector into the existing trailer connector. All I need is to know the positive and negative wires. This is for a lighted license plate adapter I need to pass...
Funny how easy it is sometimes. I had tried tapping the starter with a hammer before...
It's 10 pm, got the flash light and a hammer. Tapped the starter casing a few times and heard a click. I knew that was it. Got up, turned the key and the truck roared to life! I let it run for a while to let...
Holy cow, I about jumped out of my skin!
Yes, it clicks.
Yes there's power.
Yes it's a freaking 4th of July show jumping red to purple.
All I got was a clunk. The starter didn't turn.
So, unless there's something else I'm unaware of, this leaves just the starter remaining?
Ok... the Glow Plug Relay is showing 25v. In the picture, I am taking the reading from the top post with the boot on it. Is this the correct post?
In this pic, the camera is held near the fuel pedal, point up under the dash. I think this is most obviously the starter relay. Looks like there...
