Just coating everything with grease is enough with a u-joint axle to keep it from rusting. All of that excess grease is from pumping it through the zerks on the kingpins over the years. The older repeza joints needed the grease, u-joints don't. The bushings get their grease from the zerks.
BTW you don't have to get yours muddy, I'll let you drive mine through it. It is right at home in it. The last time I went out I was driving it through 6' deep stuff with no problems. My daughter even drove it all around.
It is called Horse Hole Mud Boggs. It is 45 miles SW of my house. You can go to mudup.com to check them out. It is a real nice place to take the family out for a day of fun in the mud. It is the weekend of June 21st and 22nd I think. We will probably go on Sunday. We usually leave about 8:30 or...
Nice truck, too bad that you are not closer. I have the heater that I pulled out of mine that will probably go to the scrapyard. No need for the heater in Florida. I would ship it to you, but the shipping would probably be more than the heater is worth.
For everyone that has never seen Steves' truck in person, it is one of the nicest MV's that I have ever seen. He has done an excellent job in his attention to the details. If I had trucks that looked that nice in my motorpool in the Army I would have stayed in for a full 20 years :D. By the way...
Whatever you decide on, do NOT use USA 6x6!!!! They are liars, cheats and theives. You will be promised the world and you will get nothing for a LOOOONG time except more promises, lies and misinformation until you finally get fed up with them and order everything somewhere else. Oh, by the way...
The ride isn't much different, if anything it is better. The mileage is about the same, 11mpg or so. The performance is less because of the bigger tires, but it does top out at 70mph now where it would only do about 60 before with the 11R 20's. I haven't turned up the pump any yet because I...
I know that when I went in to renewed my Class D liscense last October they said that I didn't need the D any more. They told me that the E covers everything that the D used to. They issued me a Class E for the replacement. I sure hope that I didn't get screwed.
I have a set of those on my truck now and I purchased a NOS set of west coast mirrors. I haven't tackled the task of changing them over yet. I'm not looking forward to the rusted hinge pins.
I don't know anything about the AVM products except what I've seen here so I will not comment on them. But, I do have dealings with Randy. There is no doubt in my opinion that he is one of the most outstanding people to deal with related to this hobby. I have talked to him on several occasions...
Everytime that I take my truck to a mudhole I have several ladies that want to ride in the truck through the mud. I had been putting off cutting down the troop seats and putting them back in, but now I put them back in so I can really load up. Point is, I think all of the women really love old...
I use ceramic balancing beads in all of my tires, even the 53" xzl's on my Deuce. You can go to Dyna beads and order them for about $200 per vehicle or you can go to Ceroglass and order a 50lb bucket of the same media for about $150 and have enough to balance dozens of sets of tires. You just...
I was thinking about a 900 series for the automatic and the power. I don't know which one because I don't know the numbers for the 900's and what they are. Is there a good site to find out what each one is configured to?
