The only insight that I can give into this is that most military wheels are for tube type tires. They have a groove in the rim for the valve stem to come through. Most civilian tires are tubeless. This probably does not apply to all military wheels though.
$100 per set for equal? Why would you use that when you can use the beads for less than $5 per set? I guess if you have only one set of tires that you want to balance for the rest of your life then I could see it.
Some people that I know use the equal also. One of the benefits to the beads is that they don't soak up moisture. I have taken them out of a tire with 50k miles on them and they still look like new with 0 damage to rims or tires. The beads are tiny, smaller than sugar sand and they pour right...
I got them directly from ceroglass. The product is: 05145 BSLZ-3, (0.250-0.425 mm)Zirconium Silicate Bead.I paid $147.50 for the 50lb bucket in July of '06. You will also need to get some of the filtered valve cores. I got them from a tire supply store on the internet for about .50 each in...
I used my own Dyna Beads. I purchased a 50lb. bucket of ceramic beads from Ceroglass. They are identical to the Dyna Beads from what I can tell, but they are only about $175 for 50lbs. I have balanced about 15 sets of tires with them and still have 1/2 of it left. Some of the tires that I...
It's a little tricky figuring the miles with the odometer being so far off with the big tires but as best that I can figure mine is getting between 10 and 11 mpg.
There are many people that make wheels to fit these trucks. Devilman deals in them, Stazworks.com, Long wheel in Jax. plus many more. Do not buy from USA 6x6!!! That is where I purchased mine, bad time had by all to put it mildly.
Outside to outside of tires is about 21" or so. Out side of tread...
The 16.00 R20's recommend a 10" wide wheel. I have mine on 12" wide wheels. I like it better to have them blown out a little more. I don't know of any 'stock' 10 or 12" wheels, but that doesn't mean that there aren't any.
As far as the auto trans question, I have no idea but would love to find one.
I wasn't aware of this web site until after purchasing the stuff from USA 6x6. I had a guy in Oklahoma tell me he was a good guy and went by that. After I started having problems I did more research and found out about all of the problems that everyone was having with them. Just about every site...
I hope that you have help! Also, did he send the o-rings with the wheels? If not, you have to put a 1/4" bead of silicone around one wheel half and let it sit up over night, making sure that it is uniform all the way around. If you don't let it set up, you will have a heck of a time getting the...
I think that I will do the fuel filters since I'm going to start running some filtered used oil. Don't want to fight the filters every time I need to replace them.
