    Mep 803 fuel line replacement

You should be able to salvage the old tee's and re-use them. Again, if you compromise the old hose by cutting into it with a razor blade it will make it much easier to get it off without breaking anything. Just don't cut so deep you start putting cut marks into the fittings ;)

    PU798 (MEP-803a & M116A3) Followed me Home!

Sure does! What a relief to know I do not have a $3,000 dollar boat anchor! Does anyone run any additives to the diesel in their generators? I use 2cycle oil in my CUCV. Wondering if I should be adding some to the generator as well. I plan on at the least adding in something like PRI-D since...

    Mep 803 fuel line replacement

Are you referring to the small (like 1/4" OD) hose that goes up over the top of the engine to each injector then back to the tank? You can buy new direct replacement off ebay or elsewhere. It is easy to replace. getting the old hose off of the injector may require cutting with a razor blade to...

    PU798 (MEP-803a & M116A3) Followed me Home!

I also forgot to add that I installed some 1/2" copper pipe to the oil drain to facilitate easy oil changes. The pipe sticks down through the trailer deck and drains into a container with ease. I installed a union fitting into the pipe for future needs if I need to unscrew the pipe or if I end...

    PU798 (MEP-803a & M116A3) Followed me Home!

Some photos. Had to cut off the old hose clamps on the fuel manifold with a cutting wheel and install new hose and hose clamps on both ends. Color of engine painted with moss green stove bright. Good to 1200 degrees.

    The infamous Well Nut info

Thanks, I did see that one but the 803 is a little different, the fuel drain is on the outside in the skid area. Seems like I could just put a socket or crows foot on there and tighten it down no problem.

    The infamous Well Nut info

I am looking at replacing my non leaking (yet) fuel drain well nut on my 803. Maybe it is obvious but not to me, It seems like everyone removes the fuel tank to install a new one? Seems to me I should be able to just get the old one out, clean around the hole inside and out then just install the...

    PU798 (MEP-803a & M116A3) Followed me Home!

Quick update and a question. I got the old coolant drained, 2 gallons of old fuel drained and fuel tank cleaned as best as I can from the filler neck. Still some residual dirt in the bottom. ... oil drained and refilled. fuel return lines replaced. engine painted.. I removed the metal fuel...

    PU798 (MEP-803a & M116A3) Followed me Home!

So quick update. I tried to track down the fuel manifold down all day long. Then I found a guy on Ebay with a bunch of LPW4 engines and parts and I am getting a replacement manifold tube and filter housing assy off a used motor from him . Got the gen set pulled into my garage and set to...

    PU798 (MEP-803a & M116A3) Followed me Home!

Well as it turns out I may have the fuel filter bowl after-all. I found a red cap looking thing tossed in the bottom of the gen yesterday but did not cross my mind it was the bowl for the fuel filter until I started looking for a replacement online and saw the same part. DOH! Sure makes a...

    PU798 (MEP-803a & M116A3) Followed me Home!

Been looking for a good diesel generator for a while. Thought about maybe getting a nice little Honda gas portable...Then I saw some MEP's. Read more about them.. Decided that was what I wanted... And then a light came on and I remembered that about 6 months ago I looked at and drove an M923...

Purple wires & diode to water in fuel solenoid

Yesterday I had an issue starting my truck. I would turn the key.. All the lights come on but no starter. The lights would dim and volt meter would sag when in the start position. Tried it a few times to no avail. Popped the hood and found some smoke coming up from the back of the engine drivers...

New to me PU798A (Mep-803a on a LTT-TQG high mobility)

Thanks, it is very similar to yours but the trailer looks a little different. Luckily I should be able to just back right up to it with my CUCV and hook it on and go. Already got the pintle hook and the stock military trailer plug. And I am lucky I only have to go a few miles down the road to my...

New to me PU798A (Mep-803a on a LTT-TQG high mobility)

I am picking up one of these same combinations this coming Wednesday.. All this talk of wet stacking makes me think I should check into that while I am giving it a once over. Now I am trying to figure out how I can load it up decently for an extended time. Most of my major appliances (except...

Thinking Of Purchasing M923 In Maine

They are both great vehicles. Love the TJ and the XJ has become my daily driver. I'll check that injector cable to see if it is rubbing. I am going to miss the TJ but I think it is time for me to sell her to pay for the new CUCV... and make some room in my driveway!

Thinking Of Purchasing M923 In Maine

Nope, the 5 ton is really just too much truck for my uses. I would still love to have one someday but the wife said no way and she has a point. It Is a monster. Ended up buying an M1028A2 with a deuce bed put on the back of it a little over a month ago. It was a compromise that the better half...

    M1009 Cooling System Overpressure

If that is a picture of your combustion tester then you are doing it wrong. I bought and used that same tester, you are only supposed to fill the blue fluid up to the line on the sight tube on both the top and bottom chamber and it should be a lot darker blue than that. Then you need to have...
