I used the same carrier that I used to get my two 931s home and after doing some improvements and reinforcement it worked like a charm. The guys at the lot where the truck had been sitting were super nice and they just lifted the front end of the M928 with one of there wreckers and I backed...
The knock was there when I picked up the truck so I don't know what it was like before it happened. The repairs I will need to make are to whatever let go inside the motor. I need to pull the pan and see what it looks like inside and fix the rod, or piston, or spun bearing, or whatever it was...
Quickfarms,
Thanks for the advice. Once I've made the repairs to the motor I will pull all of the injectors and have them tested with the pump. I'm sure I will learn a wealth of knowledge about the subject from searching the posts on here and I will study up before I do any repairs. I only...
There was about 30 gallons in the tank, I would guess, when I picked the truck up. I probably burned about 10 gallons of that before I filled it with fresh diesel and added a diesel fuel additive to the tank.
The mechanic only "smelled" the fuel and told me it was bad. Apparently I don't have...
Recovery, yeah I had the same thoughts after towing my 931s home. I think that may be the trick to getting the rear end up higher.
Tactical, I agree, it's a numbers thing and if it were a standard 923 or 925 I would lean more toward scrapping it and doing precisely what you are doing...as...
Well by far the popular consensus is to keep the truck. At the very least I think the best thing to do is drag it home and open it up to see if I can get a better idea of what happened. I hate to see it go to scrap so if the time comes I will post a classified add and weigh the monetary options...
Yeah I looked under the front two valve covers and I didn't see anything obviously wrong, I still need to look under the back one.
I think the geometry will work out to allow the piggyback. It was actually harder than you would think to get the bed close to the ground when I was looking for a a...
I was headed back to the Gainesville area of FL. I actually have a family farm only a few minutes away from Camp Blanding for those that know where that is.
Yeah I have worked with CSMDavis before, if I get to that point I will hit him up to see what he has but one problem I have is that...
OK, so I always wanted a long bed and I took a gamble on one that sold out of Bragg recently. The dash was pulled out and gauges missing but I had guages and there were no other indications that the truck wasn't operational. Spoke to a rep at the lot and he said the truck started and drove, they...
I think your right patracy but after looking it up in the TM it still says that the max pintle load for a 931 is 15,000 lbs..... maybe that is an off road rating?
Yeah $700 is way cheaper than any trailer I could find and while it wasn't as easy to load and secure it weighed allot less too...
The ramps were a fairly simple design. I have been working everyday and by the time I get home it's too dark to take pictures but as soon as I get a chance I will post some more. As for the tow bar, I believe that the tow pintle is only rated for 10,000 lbs and the trucks weigh over 20 so that...
Just wanted to share my recent experience with recovering the two 931s that I won in October. I wasn't sure if either truck ran and the auction said that the vehicles had to be towed or wrecked from the sight so I drove the deuce with a tow bar a plan and tools in hand. First I live in St...
