being new to the addiction I bought from a few members who sell stuff on the side, it seems crossing over the part number of maintenance items from the govt to civy world is sometimes difficult, but when parts arrive and you find you could get them locally for much less or on fleabay for 1/2...
you have to wonder when you go to a recommended member to get a product for your MV and they sell something you can buy yourself cheaper elsewhere. I thought the members were supposed to help each other, when I buy an off the shelf item I dont expect to pay double for the privilege of buying...
great to hear it worked out, sucks it took another seal to do though, will have to hit mine with the IR gun after a run to see if any problems there replaced them all recently. Just another thing to try and remember to check, finally got all the leaks for the moment the other day.
interested in seeing the results of your seal exchange, I do not see the seal flexible material lasting long enough to keep it in contact with the rotating bearing and generating heat for long. What I have seen is some incompatable bearing and race combos listed on vendor sites for outer...
pretty much all the aftermarket seals will work, the problems lie in installation and over thinking it. The bearings are no different than the old front spindle bearings all cars used to have albeit much larger. Several methods of install have been discussed, torque to 50 back off 1/8 to 1/4...
Do they hold air? are you planning on doing 90 down the interstate? I really see no problem unless you have no spare or are driving the deuce way beyond its intended capabilities.
mine had a ball bearing there that seemed to be the spacing holder and friction point for the magnetic drive, put an airtex 24 volt inline fuel pump in and just use the pump as a pickup, Airtex 24 volt inline low volume at oreilly 70 bucks 1/2 od compression adapters 2 bucks done
a lot depends on whether or not the vehicles are licensed, the municipalities seem to be more lenient if they are getting a regular revenue from said vehicle.
as far as synchros go ebay has 4th 5th for 179 and shipping item 250598354915 if you need it, cheapest I found. I purchased a spare to use parts as a donor if needed and bought some parts. Turned out buying all the parts I needed was cheaper as the 3053a doesn't grow on trees in my area. Would...
Did the mod myself went with the WIX filter listed in previous thread, because I wasnt happy with fit of replacement canister filters. This is easy and works great, used hydraulic sealant on the fittings (loctite product) Filter one had the parts less than $50 and if you order $50 or more free...
so far what I found is the nut itself bottoms out after the ferrule is compressed, further tightening of the nut just causes the ferrule to compress beyond a point where it can be tightened by the nut. I am off to see if there are replacement ferrules at napa and will update this when I get...
I suspected the answer would be along that line but I guess I am not understanding the reasoning, once the lines are full the simple law of hydraulics is what is pushed in beyond full is what is pushed out. How this could affect the timing is a bit fuzzy here. I would bet a half inch shorter...
all right read several tm's did not see this answered. Can and where would you get a replacement ferrule for an injection line. One is leaking and think it may be cracked at ferrule. number 5 actually
Having just gone through my trans and checking it out per the tm and replacing the 4th 5th synchro I would opt for fixing yours, they are not bad to work on and as stated by others, I could have pulled the mainshaft without removing from the truck, I had a replacement lined up if needed but...
