When i bought my bobber project it had no mirrors or brackets. Obviously you need them as I almost ran over several people driving it home this way. I never liked the big bulky brackets that the military provides and wanted something tighter to the cab that would still allow me to see what was...
I really like the hydraulic winches, they run cool even under heavy loads. They have issues like every other system and they are not fool proof. Hydo winches are expensive! even compared to a big quality electric, unless you salvage one from a roll back or something similar. Then you also have...
My bobber started out life as a winch truck. I removed it, sold it and bought a Warn 18.5K severe duty to go on the truck. If you are going to use it occasionally, then stick with PTO. If you need to get out of a ditch and are willing to put the truck there by yourself, then go electric. One...
i plan to tow this truck with my bobber to some events next year and wanted to have more fuel on board "just in case". I figured I would use it as a transfer tank. Hook the fuel pump up to a switch and get a hose and nozzle for the deuce pump. flip the switch and pump into either vehicle when...
any reason this would not work? Has a fuel pump already, 24v, fuel sending unit that could be wired to an auxillary fuel guage? Seems like it is tailor made for the job. Any observations?
I have a CUCV and a deuce, have done way more work to the CUCV than the deuce. If it is treated properly and maintained it will last another 40 years at least. Once they are running properly it's kinda hard to tear them up to a point that they won't run.
Heres my scoop on winch trucks. If you want it for looks then go ahead and get a winch truck. If you want a truck with a winch and have a job for it, namely recovery or yourself or anyone else that is heavier than you, then buy a non winch truck and get a warn 18k winch for the front. MUCH, MUCH...
ouverson engineering makes anything you would ever want. they are the makers of the aftermarket gear sets for the rockwell axles. They are only produced in 4.90 I believe. They also have lockers, axles, lockout hubs. All kinds of stuff
added a 101 bed to my 1031. Swapped to a spin on fuel filter. Added 37" swamper SSR radials to my truck with major cutting and NO LIFT. Next on the agenda is custom bumpers front and rear as well as mastercraft seats to replace the factory bench. Coming together
most reasons I see posted for selling have to do with financial burden. Or upkeep on several vehicles. It is addictive and can get out of hand. I see folks that buy several and then realize that they don't have the time to drive one of them and start culling the herd. That being said there is...
Ok so I put the 101a1 bed on my m1031 chassis. Used the Tailights from the trailer on the rear of my truck. I can't figure out the correspondance between the trailer and cucv tailights. Played with it some and now I have tailights and brake lights, but no turn signals or blackout lights. point...
