Got very worried about a bad oil pressure problem, was dropping way off on idle. Did a little diagnostics then switched out the new sensor for the old original one i had.... all good now. We had only taken the original off because it leaked and that is fixed now. Phew, oil pressure issues...
Busy day and a lesson learned. Fixed the leaky oil pressure sensor, now she doesnt drip a bit. Fixed up heater intake so thats better.
Fixed up the exhaust, new flex pipe and fixed a leak higher up system. Lesson learned was how well the truck runs when she isnt leaking exhaust gas...
Quick switch of the gladhand seals, then off to the event we had this weekend. Cops and Kids is a big deal for us, took her there and she got climbed over by hundreds of kids. Scared the life out of our guys when one of them blew the horn. Went through an amazing amount of candy too.
Went out for opening day of dove season in Ohio. Took Gertrude out and stayed in her the evening before, all nice and air conditioned, generator ran flawlessly, and had hot coffee at 4am when we went out to get in place. Really only thing she needed was a little (read several quarts) of oil...
Well the weekend ended up a little different. Went to the start of an Injured Soldier event and setup Gertrude with all the machine guns etc... riders went off to their ride and i packed up to head to the other end..... when i saw during my pre-drive walk around a new puddle. It was diesel...
Fixed one exhaust leak, now have to replace the flexible section (one i bought on ebay seems too short so not sure where to go there yet).
Got the custom tank done for the generator, now we are 100% stand alone.
Fabricated the brackets to locate the water tank up and in front of the tow hitch...
Changed transmission and transfer case fluids, did some basic lubrication on other parts and took a glad hand off an old trailer and made a hookup for air tools off the truck just in case.
Last time we had a get together it got used as a dining platform.
Mostly she is used as a mobile platform and workshop for when we bring out all the machine guns. We have a few here, usually we have several times this much out.
She also gets used as a camper, being self contained with...
I use an Onan 4000 in my one, mounted down where spare was (spare is relocated to rear of the truck). 60Dbm noise, especially with the exhaust pushed down the back.
Little things like cab fans etc. Then instead of the shoreline going under garage door I fitted a real camper type power box on outside of house. Now I can stop popping breakers when I run aircon and tools when hooked to house.
Took her to a Cops and Kids event, had the kids climbing over it and around it.
Finally got the Onan back from the shop, so we are back to being independent without a landline or using the inverter. Added a few things like a switch for the air raid siren and a cab fan. Finished up the...
Had to take the whole generator out of the truck, sent it off to be looked at. Doesnt run up to speed, apparently a governor issue and carb filter issue, which is going to be $900 worth of work. Thanks Cummins/Onan :)
Truck is just about ready for the Cops and Kids event this weekend, got...
Removed the old multi fuel heater, making the box over the cab a sleeping area. Also picked up a slim water tank seen on left. Not sure if old heater is scrap or worth something.
Did a little road trip last night to pickup a trailer chassis and 5 tires on rims. Guy had bobbed his deuce and had 5 wheels along with the two on the trailer. Trailer has great lights etc too, though no bed. Got them for a song, so am happy to have the spares.
Finished all the 110volt in the box, now have 4 separate circuits. Got the 12 and 110 to generator done and finished. New door seals in cab done. Put the three little bars in roof up front so vinyl roof no longer sags.
