Just to clarify, are you saying that you take the chain and run it through a tire so if the chain snaps the tire will stop or slow down the snapping force?
I always have horrible luck with tow straps. I am usually pulling out someone I don't know and they run over my tow straps and fray them badly or the tow straps just snap. But I have only used the 4'' inch or so wide straps. I see that alot of you guys are using 6'' inch wide straps and having...
You don't think a chain that has a minimum break force of:
Grade 43 - 16,500 lbs
Grade 70 - 18,500 lbs
Is strong enough to use for pulling myself or others out? I don't use chain alot so I don't know what they will do, thats why I'm asking.
I often go out and play in the mud with my truck and although I do have a winch... its a pain in the butt to operate and rewind back once you are done. I have been looking locally for some tow chains and no one has anything bigger than 3/8'' thick. My question is which would you have more...
Actually that's not true. You are entitled to new parts in a situation like this. This is something the insurance companies have been screwing people over with for years. Theoxman doesn't have a contract with that car owners insurance. Since he doesn't have a contract and didn't agree upon the...
GUYS! You are doing this all wrong! Go get a historical vehicle plate or special interest plate if your vehicle is not old enough. Then when you want to use it outside of the limits of the historical/special interest plates, go get a 4 day temp tag. Those cost $10 or so bucks and there is no...
Dont go through your insurance. Don't make a claim or even call your insurance. Only deal directly with his insurance company. Don't give your insurance policy number to that guy or his insurance company. I do this every time there is an accident and I am not at fault. It keeps your insurance...
I live in Oregon and recently purchased a M35 with only a bill of sale, and gov SF-97 form. Took it to DMV and it was extremely easy to get the title put in my name.
About that truck you listed... $3K is high for it. There is a fellow member that is selling his in Oregon, check out his...
well if any of you guys are interested in it and want to buy it, I can drive over to it and check it out for you. I'm not familiar about the early dueces but I do have a M35A2, so it can't be that different. I'm also a cert mechanic for gas motors so I can tell you if there is any issues.
I posted this in the Duece forum and noticed this forum afterward. It should of been placed in this forum to begin with but i didn't know if it was a m35 or what. Apparently its a M211. I live very close to this truck and found it locally on craigslist. It appears to be in great shape. Take a...

I just read the whole 24 pages. Do I get an award or something? My head hurts.
I will add though, because there was some discussion about the winch on the M35 and its capabilities. I recently pulled 36,000lbs with it no sweat. One of those gravel dump trucks was trying to transfer the rear...
A 1985 AM General M35 is the same exact truck as a 1987 AM General M35 other than being 2 years newer. Heck all the M35A2s are the same truck. The only problem I had with insurance was that some of the other agents weren't able to find AM General as a manufacturer they covered. So they couldn't...
