My fronts are (visually) very new tires. My rears however are a totally different story. My rear tires have weather checkering like that. I've done a lot of highway speed on road driving and hit some major bumps (on accident). IMO those don't look too bad for rears.
Not much of a consolation, but you made my broke deuce blues feel not so bad, haha. I thought mine was in rough shape, but it's a diamond in comparison. Now, cosmetically, mine is still a turd... doors are rusted, bed is rusted, and the fenders could use some help.
That's what I was going to say. I haven't built one, but I have seen a semi-truck with a double sleeper (for lack of a better term) and it's on air bags.
Just to be devils advocate, why not have the camper on the truck and pull a trailer for cargo capacity?
In all seriousness, I agree with you Wreckerman.
I didn't see a CUCV out there, I had my solid green Deuce out at Knob Creek. Going towards the range, I was in the upper parking lot, way back on the right.
Ian,
I think it's awesome that you pop in here to give us some insight on the truck. Whether I like the build or not, I can almost always take something useful away from one the projects. [thumbzup]
It's not Conservative 4x4, it's Xtreme 4x4!
I would think the stock air system would be taxed to keep up with air bags. It takes FOREVER (10-15 min?) as it is to fill up a tire. At that rate, just to fill up air bags is still going to take a bit.
This is interesting as I was considering something around 100 gallons to put in the bed. How are you going to tie this tank in to the existing fuel system?
It IS called Xtreme 4x4, it's not going to be a "stock" bobber. I wouldn't build a bed like that, but I'm very interested to see how it works with their Sami(?) back there. Ultimately, that's what the goal is, to have viewers interested in the show.
My non-turbo is loud, but not as bad as a turbo truck. I think the only time my truck is lacking to a turbo truck is on acceleration. Otherwise, I can cruise at 55mph easily and keep it up slight inclines too.
I want a turbo mostly for the sound.
