Seriously, I'm sure the CG has some effect but like Gimpy said, had it not been for the tires, he wouldn't have been there anyway. The isn't any benefit that doesn't have a drawback. You just have to compensate accordingly.
I had a thought similar that using Dodge diesel front coil springs. They should be able to support plenty of weight and if you ever wanted to lift the truck, there are lift springs available commercially.
I say leave it, add the sleeper on. I got curious and found a sleeper near me for $600obo. If you add on a sleeper and don't like the extra bed hanging over, cut it off after taking a look. I think the sleeper is a really good idea. It's easier than adding in a crew cab.
On top of it all, if it turns out that you do not like the bed hanging over 3'... it's always easier to cut it off then instead of trying to add it back on if you change your mind the other way.

I used an engine hoist through the passenger side door. It has JUST enough reach, but reinstalling it is a chore. I've dropped my trans twice now. The second time around, by myself, was 5 hours (with some troubles) from start to replacing the rear main seal. I think it took me another 4-5...
I don't completely disagree with you on that, but karma can be a B. I was also kind of assuming that most people here wouldn't have the gall to ask for help when not offering it to others.
