I'd guess the ARB is as good as you'll find to compare. There are a plethora of threads on Expedition Portal, but you're right, they aren't built nearly as tough as the AcuTemp. I only posted so those who wanted an option for something to add to their rig would be aware.
Anyone interested in something like this, look into Engle, ARB(made by Engle), and Dometic. I bought a 50qt ARB when my wife wanted to get a chest freezer, and it has served us well. I ran it in my 4runner and my Sears Diehard Platinum(same as Odyssey) would run it for 2 days before drained...
Feature request:
1. scheduled start and shutdown for maintenance, i.e. monthly run for 30 minutes on custom scheduling.
2. maintenance reminders: oil change, filter change, etc.
I wired up the relay last night, and there really isn't much to it. No real point in taking a picture of the setup, but here is the wiring diagram in M$ Paint. I verified that it does work to cut out the tender when 24v is supplied to pin 14. I didn't have time to run a wire from the...
Fuel burn is roughly .1 gal/kWh, regardless of 802 or 803 or diesel or gas. The diesels seem to be about .01-.05 gal/kWh more efficient than the gas, but you can use .1 as a good rule of thumb. Doubt you would see any consequential variance between the 802 and an 803 for the same load.
I plan to pull the trigger off of pin 3 of the Master Switch, which I think is hot in start and run. The inputs on the relay will be the positive and negative of the battery tender output, the output of the relay will go to the batteries. For convenience, I connected my battery tender output...
I went ahead and ordered a 24v relay and pigtail so the battery tender will automatically disconnect from the batteries.

yep, 103 and 105 share the chassis. I got a powerplant, 2x803, last year. Took one off and did a permanent install at my house, sold the other on the trailer. Even with the lunette flipped, you'd need a substantial rise in the hitch to tow it level. Not a problem if you only move it...
