So you are the guy I heard about on the phone the other day.
We have a similar story. I also have an A3 (two of them actually) that I am attempting to get titled and licensed. I purchased the trucks, got everything else I needed, and ran to the DMV who issued me a license plate...
I bypassed mine. The manual says the steering is supposed to be getting +/- 40 PSI. My truck usually runs 120 PSI. I haven't had any problems with the extra pressure, and it steers like a dream.
I had considered putting an aftermarket regulator with gauge up on the firewall where the shut...
You can buy a regulator with built in gauge, they aren't that expensive. The thought had crossed my mind. I was going to ditch the shut off valve on the firewall and install in there.
The manual says that the steering is supposed to get somewhere around 40PSI of air. Mine wasn't working either, so I took it off. Looking at it, the valve was rated up to 100 PSI. My truck will produce somewhere around 120 PSI. It works very well without it, and I haven't experienced any...
It is important to know the date the tires were made prior to purchasing them.
I was lucky enough that I was able to assemble a set of fairly new tires for mine. I have (5) 2008s, and (2) 2006s. I have seen tires as old as the mid 1990s on these trucks.
I just crawled underneath my truck with the rust tag dated 1996, #1114. The axles are 1997s. I also found a 1969 tag on the transfer case.
I don't put a lot of faith on the tires themselves as you never really know how long they were warehoused prior to use. Between both trucks, the oldest...
Since the M35A3s were built in such limited numbers for a set period of time, has anybody compiled which serial numbers were produced in what years?
GL lists many as 93's, simply because that's when the contracts started. I have seen several low serial numbers listed as 96's.
I have serial...
If you wanted to meet up on the way down, I would be happy to meet up with you in one of the trucks if you haven't seen one before. That way you can see how everything works prior to showing up to pick yours up.
Just PM'd you my info. I'll also add that Alredneck's pricing is very, very reasonable. If you're looking to have it trucked (I believe they have the ability to ramp the trucks onto trailers at this lot), I would seriously consider his offer.
I picked up two A3s from the last auction that were in pretty good shape, probably a bit better than the most recent group. We did give the others a quick look, and spoke with Mike a bit about them. He said most of them were driven on to the lot, and was more honest that I expected when I...
Carnac (and all other contributors),
Thank you for taking the time to do this. Although this is my first post, I have found the information here on this site to be invaluable, and it has been instrumental in my first MV purchase.
