    Service Parts Identifiction Charts

Are these that common? This one looks mildewy, and paper isn't exactly known for its longevity. I'm trying to figure out what some of the things on my truck are supposed to have been, and I'm not sure what everything means. My speedometer seems to read surprisingly slow with what I believe to be...

M1009 from Wyoming to Colorado with a bit of a detour.

AND.... As requested: How it now sits on its new 33X10.50s.

M1009 from Wyoming to Colorado with a bit of a detour.

Allrighty! Here's the writeup! As stated, I spent the week and change prior to going out to get the truck planning, gathering parts, and generally trying to prepare for any and everything that could go wrong. Saturday morning, my wife and I grabbed our bags, and our neighbors who were dog...

    2 Batteries Needed Post-Roscommon 12V Conversion?

That's what I was trying to suss out. I knew the civilian models were 12V all the way, but wasn't sure what the battery situation was. Thanks. I imagine a single battery would technically work so long as the battery were sufficiently powerful, but two is pretty much minimum.

M1009 from Wyoming to Colorado with a bit of a detour.

There will be plenty when we get back. Here's a teaser in the meantime: This shows the worst part of it (a few light dents that a paintless dent shop will sort out very quickly): This shows the best part of it (zero rust of any sort): This forum doesn't allow external photo links inline...

M1009 from Wyoming to Colorado with a bit of a detour.

Thanks! Hopefully I don't need it, but if I do it's nice to know there's someone to call in an emergency! Especially out there. Wyoming is pretty open and empty. I took a new-to-me 50 year old vehicle through Death Valley several years back and wasn't as concerned about the potential for not...

    2 Batteries Needed Post-Roscommon 12V Conversion?

I can make a case for and against in my head. Has anyone run a single battery after converting to 12V? I'm contemplating an isolated in-house battery setup, and it'd be nice to be able to use the second battery for that purpose versus having to get and locate a third. Thanks.

M1009 from Wyoming to Colorado with a bit of a detour.

Silver Dollar Saloon is officially on the docket! Thanks for the suggestion! Alrighty! I have my kit fully rounded up... All 80 pounds of it! The duffel bag I got was just barely too small, and it's probably for the better as it caused me to remember that there are weight limits as well. All...

M1009 from Wyoming to Colorado with a bit of a detour.

Thanks. I've felt welcomed for the most part. M1009 NEWBIE 2013 has been especially awesome bringing me into the fold. I hope to meet more SS people soon!

M1009 from Wyoming to Colorado with a bit of a detour.

After quite a bit of very meticulous searching and research, I finally found my truck. If you are or have been selling an M1009 just about anywhere in the country over the last month or so (excluding only Hawaii, as I've done that before, and it costs more than I care to sink into this...

Long Distance Retrieval: The Hard Way

I'm aware of the dual voltage system and now the starter relay issue (which I think is what you're referring to with the "run on starter issue"). Or is the starter solenoid itself prone to sticking? I might replace the relay as PM, carry an extra starter should that prove the culprit, and make...

Long Distance Retrieval: The Hard Way

I don't have any desire for any cookies, just answers to the question asked. I have a family friend not far from where the truck is currently located that will haul it up here for me for something on the order of $400 (cost of gas one way). It's not at all about the money. The point is I know...

Long Distance Retrieval: The Hard Way

Ah! Right. I'm told they're loud too... I've been for a ride in M1009 Newbee's, as he pointed out while I was initially typing this. Ride quality and noise levels are very relative. My current DD is about as rough if not more so due to a stiff performance oriented suspension and very light...

Long Distance Retrieval: The Hard Way

Isolated incidents will happen, I can really only concern myself with common predictable problems. I've had to swap engines in a parking lot before, and recognize that things happen. I also have a family friend that regularly hauls cars from near where this truck is to here in exchange for the...

Long Distance Retrieval: The Hard Way

Good to know on the IP, and I'm aware of the DOT 5 brake fluid and how it behaves in relation to glycol-based hydraulic fluids. I'll hold off fueling up with biodiesel until I get back to the homestead and have replaced the fuel system-related rubber bits. Fuel filters are good to know for...

Long Distance Retrieval: The Hard Way

Skinny, AECS: The cost to rent a UHaul trailer and truck to tow it that distance, last I checked (about two years ago) was $800. That's IF the UHaul rep isn't a complete idiot and can figure out how to rent a freaking trailer, IF they'll allow such a "massive" vehicle to be towed, and IF the...

Long Distance Retrieval: The Hard Way

I am very seriously entertaining an M1009 that is currently about 1K miles away. It's fresh out, and the seller says he'll drive it around a week or two in advance to make sure the fuel system is properly flowing, take it to a shop to have any work done on it I want before I get there, take it...
