Installed and adjusted fan belts, now the Gen 2 light no longer flickers on and off (note to self replace Gen 1 light that never goes on). Also I must get my cig lighter housing out of the box and installed.
Why do you say a "lifted truck [is] more trouble than [it's] with"? I was planning to lift my M1008 5" to 6" and slide the 37"ers under it but I have never done this before. What problems will I be creating?
I don't know Corporal. I have seen threads that talk about re-centering the Hummer wheels (what ever that is) but I don't know if the wheels just bolt up without spacers. BUT if we keep this thread going maybe someone with more knowledge/experience will jump in.
With lots of help from my nephew got my new starter RE-installed with the proper tail bracket. Keeping my fingers crossed that will fix my starting problems without shims.
Switched out the relay under the dash (easiest thing to do and dry even in the rain) but same same. So this Saturday, with help, I'll look into it... now that I had it towed home again. Just off hand I think my M1008 was from a mechanized unit and not a ranger unit because it seems to ride...

When I bought my CUCV I was told it would need a starter someday. So I bought a new starter on E-bay but put off that someday but now I think that day is here, slow cranking and draining the batteries in two attempts to start at 10 seconds each. Any last minute words of wisdom before I crawl...
Just happen to still have a set of those my daughter got me for Christmas. Now all I have to do is hunt down the leads for them and find the time to do it.
I was the one using the term "mil spec" both GPs and GP relay were advertized online as "military surplus" (and you know they can't lie on the internet, lol). The relay was identical to the one that was in there except it didn't rattle. Even though the GPs looked and fit the same I was a little...
IT'S ALIVE! Well it was. Yesterday I replaced the last GP and she fired right up running just fine. Took her out for a spin and even took her out into a field in 4H (she would not go into 4L but that's another problem). This mornin I got back in her ... turned the key... Wait light came on...
