    M275A2 DOA but now RUNS!

Yes, I read all of those threads when you mentioned checking the trunnion earlier. I actually didn't know what the trunnion was, so found those posts searching about it after your suggestion. I plan to move the grease zerk to the trunnion cap (but not today). I just want to make sure I don't...

Can you post a picture of the camper body?

    M275A2 DOA but now RUNS!

Studs flipped I wrapped the axles up in case it rains before I get the hubs back on. I then separated the hubs from the drums and took them to work to use our shop press to do the wheel studs. It was a lot easier than hammering.

    M275A2 DOA but now RUNS!

Teardown going well... Got the driver side pulled apart. No evidence of oil or brake fluid leaks. Wheel cylinders look like they have been replaced before (shiny bolts on them, no corrosion when I pull back the dust boots). I took a picture of the trunnion, as well (2nd picture). Had grease...

    Reconditioning M135 Wheels

Shot some black paint Getting closer. Now have a coat of flat black on the back and outside of the wheels. Will flip and do the front on Friday.

    M275A2 DOA but now RUNS!

Baby steps Not a lot of progress, but at least I got the inner wheels off. Some of the lugs were stuck on the wheels pretty good, but I was able to break them free by running the impact back and forth a few times. Tomorrow I should have the hubs off and get a look at what needs to be dealt...

    Reconditioning M135 Wheels

Flip-side coated Flipped my wheels over and sprayed the inside this afternoon. Now I get to hurry-up-and-wait until Wednesday before I can start spraying some black. I thought about doing it within the 1-hr recoat window today but it was flashing so fast with the heat today I didn't want to...

    M275A2 DOA but now RUNS!

More Progress... I was able to get the rear axles up in the air today and remove the outer wheels on both sides. I ran into a snag with my combo Budd socket. The 13/16 square is too deep in the socket to engage my short inner lugs. So, I have to purchase another socket for the square 13/16...

    M275A2 DOA but now RUNS!

Getting ready for outpatient axle surgery... I'm hoping to get the rear axles of my Deuce up in the air tomorrow to start the hub flip procedure. I'm not planning to go any deeper than I have to on the axles, hoping to just pull apart, inspect brake cylinders, then flip and reassemble...

    2018 Haspin rally, June 6th-10th, info/discussion thread

Anybody want a soft top for M1009 / K5? Anybody interested in buying or trading for a M1009 / K5 Blazer soft top at the Haspin Rally? I don't use mine anymore, I've gone back to hard top. They cost over $800 new. Mine is in good shape with no tears, but is used and has been in the sun a lot...

    Reconditioning M135 Wheels

Making Progress Making some progress. Got one side of the wheels primed yesterday. Will be letting the primer cure/dry until tomorrow night then will flip and prime the back sides. Will let that sit for another few days and then start top-coating. Nothing fancy, here, just going to be flat...

    Reconditioning M135 Wheels

Thanks for the advice. I’ll be smoothing gouges and working on paint soon. Are the small welds on the back of the wheels factory or did somebody add them later? Any idea?

Would love to hear your thoughts on a M275A2

I think I’d try to offer <$2k if you can’t drive it home. The body on mine is cleaner than that and I didn’t pay much more than that. It was a complete non-operational vehicle, however. I have lucked out that hardly any $$$ was required to get mine running, driving, and stopping. Also, I...

    2018 Haspin rally, June 6th-10th, info/discussion thread

I've been to the GA rally twice and Haspin several times. Haspin is more laid back and spontaneous and mainly focused on off-roading. It doesn't have much of a swap-meet feel to it. Haspin is also much smaller, or at least has been the last few years. I like them both! I haven't been able...

    Reconditioning M135 Wheels

Got the wheels back from sandblaster Here are some pictures of the wheels after sandblasting. I still have some concerns with the condition of the wheels. I've never run anything as beat up as these before on any of my vehicles. The rust is gone, but you can see a lot of pitting and a few...

    M275A2 DOA but now RUNS!

The spring weather has brought me back outside to work on the truck after a winter hiatus. I have recently dropped off my M135 wheels for sandblasting, purchased a set of 12.00R20 Michelin XML tires, and today got the brakes working. I first inspected the master cylinder and found that it was...

    2018 Haspin rally, June 6th-10th, info/discussion thread

Getting excited for the rally. I have a decent chance of having my deuce tractor road worthy by then. All depends on what I find in the brake system. To-do list includes changing fuel and air filters, flipping rear hubs, installing new wheels & tires, and having brakes! M1009 needs an oil...

    Reconditioning M135 Wheels

I called a local industrial sandblaster and it sounds like about $20/wheel, which doesn’t seem bad to me. Will probably just deliver to them and let them work their magic. Dave - I had actually already looked at your lock rings. I’m going to check a local surplus guy first to see if I can...

    Reconditioning M135 Wheels

How bent or mangled can a lock ring be before it's unsafe to use? I don't have any detailed pictures, but I know for sure some of the lock rings were scary looking. I only had one lock ring that was corrosion free (it was also the straightest) and had a different paint finish than the rest so...
