I plan to wire wheel some stuff first just to see how deep it goes. I might even have to take a flap wheel to a few spots if the wire wheel doesn't cut it. Will sandblasting remove all of the heavy stuff that well or is a combination of elbow grease and sandblasting required?
I have a set of M135 wheels that I'm wanting to run on my M275A2 tractor. I will be flipping the rear hubs and installing 12.00R20 Michelin XML's. The M135 wheels that I have measure about 1-1/4" less in backspacing than stock deuce wheels. They're not in the greatest shape, and wanted to see...
I'm hoping to have my M275A2 ready for the trip by then. I will also be bringing my M1009 for the trails once I figure out how to transport both vehicles. Probably just Friday-Saturday for me.
If you post a wanted ad in the classifieds of this site you'll probably find some trucks. You have a better chance of driving one home if purchased from somebody on here that maintains them well enough.
If I counted right we had 7 SS members there and some other guests. I think I’ll stay away from Haspin when it’s frozen. I did body damage to all four sides of my truck from all the sliding. Super Swamper TSL don’t make good ice tires...
It looks like most of the snow is staying north, so little chance of snow wheeling. Also, the morning will be warmer than the afternoon.
Wire Fox is riding down with me. See you in the morning.
I think right now the only confirmed trucks coming are my M1009, Maa's Land Rover, and Galaxie's HMMWV. DaveDawson might show up with his M1009, and Galaxie said he has someone else bringing another truck, but I don't know if it's an MV or a civi rig.
I will do my best to keep the wheeling...
Winter Update
So, I haven't done a lot to the truck for a bit but figured I'd update this thread a little.
I drove it in a circle around my house the other day and moved it onto my asphalt driveway. That kind of scared me to do (still have no brakes) but with my wife's help and pre-placed...
Dang, it's cold outside and getting colder! Hope you all are still good to go. I''m planning to get down there around 10am Saturday morning. I'll be leaving my house around 8am with 1 or 2 guys riding with me.
Looks like it will be around 0 degrees F that morning. Run plenty of antigel in...
I would try disconnecting power to glow plugs and cranking with a little ether. I know a lot of people on here hate ether, but I’ve had good luck.
I also would put more fuel in, probably with antigel. Getting cold soon.
Wire Fox, that sucks. Gotta be something else going on with your fuel system. I posted on your build thread asking some more details. Hopefully we can help you troubleshoot it before Saturday.
