    Borrowed my friends deuce

Being deuce-less at present, while visiting a friend, he let me drive his so that the symptoms would die down a little bit. He got it when a LAPD flying department was decommissioned a few years ago and it was just sitting around. I had motivated him to register it and have some fun. It is a...

    air compressor versions

I know there are one and two cylinder versions of the compressor. What I did not know that there are different versions of the one cylinder compressor. One has a wierd opening on top, the other one not. Is any one of them better than the other?

last post for quite a while

good question. Depends where you live in Germany. Here in Bavaria, the southern part of Germany, very few deuces are available and few buyers exist. So in my case, the first (out of 2) guy looking at it also bought it. In middle of Germany, where most of the US Army bases were and some are still...

last post for quite a while

This week I had to do what I really really hated. Sold my deuce. It was starting to get to the condition I wanted it but realized that more time is needed than I currently have. It is the coolest thing I owned in the last 25 years and I was looking at it more then once today to finally enjoy it...

What did you do to your deuce this week?

removed a wasp nest in the cabin, scrapped out all the dirt left from the previous owner, cleaned and re-painted the seats. Realized how much more is to do. Leave the rusty sheet metal but start working on the brakes.

geared wrench was a good investment

now it looks a little better. Had some time today and reassembled parts. Drivers side is getting better, passenger side is still untouched. I have unfortunately started with a very rusty and neglected truck.

    reo m35a2 cemetery

I contacted Reomie actually just the other day because I need a fender and a battery box. No luck, but seems like they will part out the deuces next year. Guess there is no more market except us for these old trucks.

    reo m35a2 cemetery

that is simply the company Reomie in the Netherlands, one of the biggest truck and jeep surplus dealers in Europe. For sure not a graveyard. Actually very helpful people. They send me a part for my HH overnight for free.

    stuck in full throttle multi

After removing the control rod you will be able to see the little block moving up and down (called plunger sleeve). It shall move freely and actually should drop down under its own weight ( after you lifted it with a small screwdriver)

    stuck in full throttle multi

went thru all of this with the help of gimpy just the other day. One thing worth to mention is maybe this (not my idea, but AMBAC manual). They say don't cut the safety wire but rather break them with pliers. Reasoning is that you have less of a danger that any small pieces of safety wire fly...

    Deuce differences

clinto, thanks for pulling those threads together in one post. There seem to not exist a clear date when the change for having the headlights in the upper position (and not interchangable) happend and with so many manufacturers of the deuce it is probably not possible to define that date. Was...

Thanks for the quick replies. About what year was that change made?

    Deuce differences

I am still very new to all this and could not find anything searching the forum. Some deuces have the headlights low and the black-out driving above, some the other way round. Some have an electrical horn showing thru the grill, some don't. Some have the heater air intake in the folding panel...

I know pictures are always a little better than reality but I wish my truck would be in that condition

geared wrench was a good investment

I have the wheels back on. Only one thimble/nut would not come apart, no matter what I did with the tools I have. Anyway, a quick special attention also solved that problem :)

geared wrench was a good investment

thanks for the words of caution. I admit it looks terrible. I changed it in the mean time.. And Mike, why no beer and pretzels in Munich? 8 hours from the bottle to the throttle? And I agree, nice airport:

geared wrench was a good investment

yes, I needed the wrench not to only break the outer loose, but to actually get them of the thimbles. With the big bar installed you can only turn the nut by about three quarters of a turn and then you have to re-install the whole thing. All of that takes forever for 6 nuts.

geared wrench was a good investment

Got my geared lug nut wrench this week and decided therefore to do some work on my piece of junk. I can only say this thing really works. 4 out of 6 thimbles were turning with the outer nut. No, I don't have an 1" impact and also I don't see how it should have helped. It took me almost an hour...
