This one will be mainly for brush fires but with 1500 gal will have the ability to assist with water supply. Got a lot done today but got dark before I could get pics I'll post more tomorrow.
Some times we are aggressive in our firefighting tactics. I won't post pics of the last 818 for fear of backlash from some of you guys but a couple guys got reamed for the damage done to it and its out of service now. But believe me if it were my personal truck it would not have something like...
Most of the time we don't get dozers here unless it's a really major fire. The guard is to help protect the fenders and lights this pic doesn't show it but I also moved the turn signals closer to the radiator. You'll also notice no stack sticking up.
This is actually my first one in a long time and yeah its welded pretty solid but this one the a3and the 923 are from the other program so they're ours to keep and that's why we're tryin to protect them. I started on the 923 today not as elaborate just a bumper ext for lights and siren because...
Drove this one home friday 85 model, '09 rebuild, 11 new radials, 150 miles and drove awesome. Will have 2 500 gal mil. tanks and equipped for brush fires. love the huge cab and auto. Only thing it needs are batteries of course. Got to see the wall of goats and even a couple 715s and a deuce...
Awesome truck the 5 tons are a big improvement over the a2 for firefighting. My dept has 2, 1 with 600 and 1 with 1200 gal. and an a3 with a 600 on it.
My FD just picked up this one, soon to have 1200 gallons water and be a tree pushing, firefighting bad boy! (when the weather gets warmer suppose to be 12 tonight)
Those trucks are awesome. Looks like the bed doesn't match the rest that could explain the cuts depts pretty much do what they want before sending them back. Our old duece is going back without a bed and we now have an 818 with a duece dropside bed.
Going thru some old pics today and found this one of my dad with the depts m715 not sure of the date but i'm guessing mid eighties. This truck is long gone now but this pic brings back alot of memories.
We've decided to mount the duece bed on it since it's a dropside I'll get some pics when we get it mounted. It's grass fire season so we've been pretty busy.
Well looks like we got one afterall our old a2 is going back to surplus. After some repairs bolts came out of fan and damaged radiater on the way home. Tires are nearly new this ones going to get a short flatbed and one 600 gal tank.
Managed to stick them both yesterday 2 different fires opposite ends of the same ranch.
Ranch brought there dozer out and had to work a bit to get the a3 out.
The 5 ton is a tree pushing fire fighting machine with 1200 gallons of water it takes care of business. We've just worn it out we tried to replace it already but ended up getting the a3 and letting our last m1008 goto another dept.
M35a3 and 813 stuck pics added
Here's some pics of our a3 and 813. 5 ton is gettin a little beat up it will be replaced in the near future and the next one will have a nose guard like the a3 has.
