    Lds-465 Engine Knocking. AGAIN

It depends, in terms of design and efficiency combined with their ability to burn a wide range of fuels it's an outstanding design. They do have their faults though, as you said the fuel system and just a plague of less sophisticated metals and materials that made for an engine more prone to...

    Lds-465 Engine Knocking. AGAIN

Thats what I'm gonna do from now on. Its just hard getting adjusted to how sloppy these trucks are at first. I don't mind a leak or a small noise here and there, my Benz 300D actually leaks more oil than the truck does, it's just as I said I couldn't help but be concerned after all that money...

    Lds-465 Engine Knocking. AGAIN

Yeah it probably was a slight overreaction, as Menaces pointed out, I had read that thread when I rebuilt mine and it got me all worried that I would end up going through the same thing. I drove the truck some more recently and beat on it a little bit, seemed to have cleared the noise up some...

    Lds-465 Engine Knocking. AGAIN

I know, I know I'm looking a little too far into this. Its just so hard for me not too with the way that I am. If I didn't just blow three months and a lot of money on rebuilding the engine I wouldn't care less. My 800$ Mercedes 300d has enough blowby coming out the slobber tube you'd thing the...

    Lds-465 Engine Knocking. AGAIN

Ah yes I had forgotten about the compressor being an issue. My big concern was just that it suddenly seemed different. With two ton in the bed it cruised about 750-800 at 50. Yesterday it was more around 850-900. I'll try to screw around with it today but I'll probably be at work until after...

    Lds-465 Engine Knocking. AGAIN

As some of you may remember I had a fairly long bread running back in the summer of my rebuild on the lds-465 in my Deuce. Welllllll, this truck just loves to test me, and here I am again with similar symptoms as before. I put all new pistons, rod bearings, gaskets, and injector nozzles in, and...

How much is too much fuel

1k degrees is perfectly fine, you're not going to melt your truck down at that. I believe the fuel was cranked up in mine before I got it, I'll hit 1000° just shifting gears from a dead stop. Cruises around 750-800. And pulling a hill it'll fly as hot as you're stupid enough to let it. I keep...

    Handling heavy tires

You can do it with your bare hands with a longish crowbar or an actual tire bar if you have one. That's how I do the xzl+ on my truck, and I've taken them off several times now. Much easier to put on than to take off but still very doable if you've ever changed a truck tire

    Lds-465-1A injector line question

Does anyone know where I can get a new injector line #5 for my truck? Ran it down the street for some fuel and as I was coming back up my road I noticed it was starting to skip. Injector line #5 leak has gone from a dripping leak to blowing fuel everywhere, all over the engine, fender, heater...

    Lds-465-1A injector line question

Yes my truck only has two or three of those boots left. The leaking line is one of the few that has it's boot

    Lds-465-1A injector line question

Interesting, I wonder what that was that I extracted from there. Looked like a chewed up o ring. I noticed the oil pressure was all screwy as well. Always had 30 minimum after the rebuild. Dropped to probably 10-15 psi at one point and then came back up, seems to be steady around 30 now, but...

    Lds-465-1A injector line question

Just finished a brake job on my truck. Ran great before that, no fuel leaks. Sat for about a week while.i did the brakes. Took it for a test drive today and it's developed quite the dripping fuel leak. It's leaking from injector line #5 on top the hydraulic head. Loosened the nut up, there was...

    Engine knocking LDS-456

Dammit I already have a set of the OEM style seals sitting on my table. I guess if I screw the installation up and they still leak I'll get the upgrade instead. I'm hoping the old seals and retainers come out easily, I'm gonna do the rear axle seals first since that's an easier fix first, my OTC...

    Engine knocking LDS-456

I taped a plastic bottle to the slobber tube, cut a vent hole up on top so it wouldn't blow off. All I've caught is a little bit of condensed oil, no soot staining or smell of exhaust so I'm satisfied. I've put about 200 miles on it so far. Runs great, no issues I've noted. Gonna do my axle...

Will do, I hadn't thought of that

    Engine knocking LDS-456

Been taking the truck for a drive every day after work, usually about an hour, as that's all I have time for and all I can tolerate with that rock solid drivers seat. The good news is the ticking seems to have been quieting down, and today during cool down I could not hear it at all. Bad news is...

    Engine knocking LDS-456

I looked them all over when had them out. None were bent that I could see, and there was no damage or wear to the ends of them either. Lifter/pushrods were one of the things I considered in my search for the sound but I didn't recall seeing anyhting out of the ordinary with them when they were out

    Engine knocking LDS-456

Same here, have about 250$ worth of seals and axle boots to put on before the snow hits. Gonna try to get it all done this November but we shall see. Although now that I finally picked up an impact that'll take the lugs off I might actually be able to get some of it done

    Engine knocking LDS-456

I used a Bosh FST 8213 from Advance Auto, like 17$. Does vacuum and boost, which I'm not a huge fan of but it was cheaper than sourcing one online and faster than waiting for shipping, I'm extremely impatient. I mounted it under the dash panel, at the edge of the lip to the bottom right of the...

    Engine knocking LDS-456

Finally got a nice long ride in today, took the truck through the hilliest part of town. Did great, sounds good too. Ticking is still there but until it gets worse I no longer care. Oil pressure is still 30-60 psi, and no leaks or fluid contamination so far. The exhaust is so much cleaner as...
