Started adding coolant today while waiting for the tranny to drain, got back under to check the progress and saw coolant dripping. Been a while since my heart sank like that. Thankfully, upon closer inspection it was leaking out of the rear of the intake manifold where I forgot to tighten one of...
Don't worry I have plenty of things left to fix before I get to those little odds and ends. Still need to do a major brake adjustment on all wheels, front axle boots and seals, possibly rear axle seals, who knows what else
Filled it up with oil yesterday, still no leaks thanksfully. I figured it would pour since I put the oil pan up by myself, but so far so good. Got the stands out from underneath it, finished up the pyro install and put my interior back together. Injectors should be done early this coming week...
If it's no longer holding position the detents are the only thing left that should be causing the issue. If not a broken spring then many the detent ball shattered or broke somehow, or the notches on the shift rails chipped or the rail itself snapped, if it were mine if pull the top cover apart...
The shop I took it to was a small one, run and staffed by just a husbanf and wife. He does electrical work and she handles fuel systems. Their outreach isn't huge but their prices are far better than any other diesel shop around, and the customer service and communication there is unmatched with...
Worked like an animal all day today, and got a **** of a lot done. Everything is together, wether or not it's together RIGHT we have yet to see, if it doesn't lock up or throw a rod within the first few minutes I'll call it good. Now I'm pretty much stuck until I get the injectors back. Called...
These are the nuts, not too terrible on the rear head but on the front the oil cooler assembly sites right there and you can't even fit a wrench down there. Crowsfoots don't fit either. What I did was cut a 3/4 socket down and welded it to the end of a 1/2" extension at a slight angle. Allows...
Yes it's doable with regular tools, but you absolutely need that funky offset wrench. The nuts on the driver's side edge of the block are inaccessible without it. I'll put up a picture in a bit when I get out there to work on it some more. You can make the tool yourself if you have a few basic...
Got 3 piston sets in their liners and dropped in, and managed to get the rear head on. Followed the torque chart, and dropped in the rocker arm assembly and lifters. Couldn't grab a picture since I'm working in the driveway and it got dark when those went on, no now the main part is half done I...
Man I'm an idiot, I looked at that chart too and totally forgot about it. I'll go by that, thanks. Would a little thread locker be a big no-no here as extra insurance?
For the oil sprayers, is there a certain torque the bolts are supposed to be tightened to? The TM just says to install them, no listing of torque or anyhting. Not does it list anything about thread locker. The bolts have no lock washers or anyhting either, just tightened right against the...
Glad to hear it, it's these kind of questions that just kinda pop up as you go that annoy me the most, so I hoped by making this thread I could help anyone else out who may run into this issue
I doubt it'll be much of a concern. Once the fossil fuels run out we'll probably bomb ourselves into extinction, so I'm gonna live it up while I can lol.
The winch is pretty straightforward, as long as you keep your hands out of it. Pulled a 3ft wide tree down without even touching the throttle in mine. You'll love the truck, mine just coated me ~1k$ in a rebuild after I bought it and I still love the thing.
In the sport of keeping these engines alive, I have the old one hole oil sprayers that came out, and all 5 other pistons seem to be in good shape. If anyone knows someone who needs something for their truck is much rather they go to a fellow enthusiast as opposed to the scrap yard.
