Since railroad ties are sinking, and looking at the pictures again, the mud would swallow gravel, couldn't you combine the two? Such as, gravel on top of RR ties? I think the big bridge ties would work better if you can find them, since they are 12ish feet long.
PJ trailers are generally considered the best, but expensive.
A company out of NC called Kraftsman builds a good quality trailer, they made the one I have and I love it. It's supposedly owned by the brother of the guy who owns Kaufman trailers (i've heard good and bad things about Kaufman)...
I'd love to have one of those trucks. The boats look cool too. And come to think of it, one of the minature containers would be kinda handy...[thumbzup]
I've too had a guy tell me he'd rather let a truck "sit and rot to the ground" before he would let it go for less than what he paid for it. And he overpaid by ALOT. That was a 52 (?) GMC gasser. I also looked at a 46 Ford/Seagrave fire truck in SC. The guy was all about finding someone to...
If you run into anything in the High point/Greensboro/Winston area of NC that you need help with let me know. I'm free quite a bit, so there's a good chance I could help if needed. Be safe.
I'm glad to see that people still care about old fire trucks enough to restore them. I've tried to get a 1954 Ford/WardLafrance and a 1946 Ford/Seagrave, but one went for more than I could afford and the other the guy wanted WAY too much for what it was. One day. Again, thank you for caring.
Is there any way you could recess them into the front bumper? I think it would look cool, and they'd be pretty well protected. If you find a good location, look into Hella 500 series lights. They're cheap for what they are, and are BRIGHT!
In NC:
1) Weighted tags DO NOT automatically mean the truck is commerical. My F350 has 20k weighted tags on it, it's not commercial.
2) That being said, 26000 is the cutoff as far as weight is concerned. One pound over that and you'll need a CDL, REGARDLESS of if it's commercial or not...
there was an article in i a magazine a few months back. I think the name was 4x4 garage. There was a good bit of work required, but nothing seemed too terribly hard.
I'm not sure if I can make it or not, i'll try my hardest. If I do, i'll be in a crew cab 4x4, so if anyone wants to go but doesn't want to/can't drive, they're welcome to ride with me. I may even get adventerous and try some trails:-D
Not trying to steal GoHot's thunder, but should the need...
