I think I can relate to the excitement of looking at the fmtv trucks with no prior experience to the trucks or to the forum. Disregard for the forum rules is likely out of excitement instead of disrespect.
I didn't know the rules when I posted, but have slowly learned them through posts and...
I'd drain a bit of oil from the center section and other side as well to check for moisture in the oil. Other than that, it's an easy reseal. If you can't park at a slant, you can drain from that side from the drain plug before removing and then pack paper towel around it and while you clean it...
It's back to working as it should, although I don't know if the switch is correct. It only kicks on when cold prior to engine start.. As opposed to running for 8 hours straight draining my battery on a warm day.

Had an odd occurrence I thought I would share.
I took my truck to the cat dealership for an initial service, (will do another diesel mechanic now that I have a baseline).
When I picked it up I noticed the inlet air heater light was on, but it was cold so I didn't think anything of it.
Next...
Yeah based on the look I can't imagine they are. There are some custom tank manufacturers here that can fabricate tanks and you give them the dimensions. I may go that route. If I do I'll share who I use, price, etc

For me the failure rate over time is important to know. My latches work great right now, but I imagine they will break someday.
40% failure rate over 5 years is far different than 40% failure rate over 30 years.
With the unknown of time, I can't prioritize the latch over another system...
I'll post pictures when I finish it.
For a second tank, check out the design of excap. De and their steyr. I love that design for tanks.

Thanks for the explanation. I've never viewed from anything but tapatalk. Didn't realize tapatalk linked photos instead of embedding them.

Is the hydraulic system on the m1088a1 an open or closed system.
I need to remove the spare tie hydraulic jack and am wondering if I need to be prepared for a few gallons to leak out, or the entire system. Likewise, I need to learn how to refill it and close it back up.
I can't seem to find...
I've modified the exhaust on my truck, and have moved the air dryer inside the frame rail, where the previous heat shield for the exhaust was.
Most air lines fit without any new ones needed. Haven't installed the new dryer yet because I'm too lazy to drive down and get it where it's being...
I'm not sure what the component should be called that looks dirty/corroded in the middle of the linkage. This is what wiggles. When wiggling, it makes the linkage move a bit.
I didn't check for wiggle/left right play in the linkage itself to see if the middle area moves and vice versa, but...
Before I dig into the TMs, can anyone help me identify the two pictured here.
It looks like I have a bit of hydraulic oil leaking from the link here (I've never noticed any drips before).
Additionally in the 2nd picture, does anyone know what the specific steering linkage part number is? I...
With people installing chunks from scrapped caimans, is there any reason to install upgraded driveshafts, - - or do caiman driveshafts fit the fmtv?
