I guess the real question is.. What would yall recommend Doing to turn xzl's with authority through the mud? Going lower in gear?like a new t-case?profab maybe?
1. Just so everyone gets knows what I'm doing with this deuce,Go to the full length 4x4 deuce thread. That is the deuce I want to build. 2. I'm going to be taking this thing off road alot and and I'm not worried about top speed.( I believe I said that already) I want to spin tires faster In...
I'm kinda more worried about the first and second gears. More acceleration, not so much top speed.I've been told a stock deuce drive terrain with 50+" tires didn't have enough gear in the mud or up hill unless your in first. So going with higher gears might effect the strength. How well it will...
Jeez 4.90:1? That, an upgraded overdrive , bigger tires, and tweak the pump a little. I bet that will get the speed up a ton...I'd Have to take that bad boy to the strip..jk
What makes a deuce so slow?(besides gear ratio) does the t-case have something to do with it? Tranny?what?
It will be a while before I get another deuce. But I do know I'd like to know how to get the tires spinning a bit faster. There aren't any higher gears than 6.17 I believe so axle gearing...
I used herculiner in my scout a good while back. I wouldn't recommend it. My buddy used this stuff called raptor liner. Stuff is comparable to line -x. Looked great( alot better and durable than herculiner).herculiner looks more like shreded rubber mixed with undercoating.
I've seen drop pitman arms made for 5-ton power steering. And if that's not enough, go order some high steer arms for it and it should be fine and probably cheaper.
The wrecker has an aux. Tranny that's made for that setup. But I've heard of using an auto 1st tranny and standard aux. Tranny behind it for higher and lower gearing. Instead of perminate axle gearing. Actually that bus ,being as long as it is, you can run a divorced t-case behind the 2nd tranny...
My "crazy" plan was to, if your making it a 2wd,was to put 2 transmissions in it. I can post pics of my dads wrecker(chevy also so you can do the exact same thing to yours). He has a granny 4 speed with a Watson 4 speed behind it. Shifting it could be compared to a 13 speed in a semi.
I hear alot of people find 6.5 diesels and put all goods on the 6.2..
They do that because the 6.5 block cracks between the cylinders if it gets too hot. And this was a bad problem with them. But I've been told that is cuz the bore and/or a little hole cast between cylinders. I was told too that...
