Without a doubt, do it! I did mine in tan pleather over a 3" foam seat and a 2" foam back rest, all on top of the box seat. Very comfortable and still enough room behind the steering wheel.

Under the dash near the steering column is a spider conection. Check to see if all connections are secure. One lead goes to the horn breaker mounted to the fire wall in the engine bay and then on to the battery side of the starter relay. On my deuce the spider connection was nothing more then...

Ranchhopper are you running 14.5x20's w/6" of back spacing? If so, do you have an extra 2" of clearance for lets say 395/75R20's?
