    Holes in back of cab

Hmm, dug through my old photos, here is a shot from mine when I was mounting the convoy lights. You can see the upper U bolts on the poles. ( The 2nd photo shows how angle iron across the convoy light poles was joined with a second one and magically turned into a light bar. )

    Fine thread bolts vs coarse

I've picked up so many fine threaded bolts that the local hardware store they asked me to park the truck in the lot for advertising. (Yes, we even had parts for this.) 8)

    CB Radio mount

CB with 100 watts? Not a good idea. My ham set is 100 watts and I've talked with Argentina. Stay legal and get a good antenna. In any circumstance a good antenna can make all the difference. There is a running joke about about hams with dirty transmitters. It is called the "Worked All...

Do I really want a heater?

The black air duct I got from Advanced Auto Parts. About $32.00. And mounting was so tight I had to notch the rubber sleeve on the fan end of the hose to make the turn. Should not be a problem for the normal heater mounting or for those people who think ahead and allow for the hose to make the...

Do I really want a heater?

I chopped the box too and I mouinted mine on the firewall. Had to reverse the fan mount to fit the fresh air hose next to the side access. Got the idea from another forum.

    CB Radio mount

You might get some ideas at a ham radio store. This may sound strange but, depending on the size of the CB, you might be able to mount it on the on the side of the seat. Just a very odd thought.

Turn the deuce front parking lights into markers

In the end it comes down to whatever works and whatever you are happy with. Me I didn't want loose the parking light function. ( No reason, just me being me. ) The 0.7 volt drop across the silicon diode was fine with me. To all of you enjoy your new marker lights! :)

Turn the deuce front parking lights into markers

Dug is right, if you don't care about loosing the origional parking light function the diode is not needed. If you use it, it is a plain ordinary diode. Voltage rating over 24V but no reason to go above 50V. Current rating more than 2 amps but no reason to go much higher than five. Schottky...

    The Epic Recovery

Still waiting for pictures of Big Ed. ( So why is that truck called Ed? Long story, An Epic Story for an Epic Deuce )

    The Epic Recovery

When I did my recovery I also had that draft from the back of the cab. Sore neck the next day. The rubber cord intended to hold the soft top to the back of the cab was broken. You can get replacement but the next best thing is a nice strip of velcro. My driver's seat was not a dust generator...

    Coolant hose replacements

As long as it works... When I recovered my deuce I lost my lower radiator hose. I decided had to pull off and readjust the mirror on the passenger side of the truck, ( I had a wonderful view of the rear wheels ) when it happened. As I rolled into the rest stop a truly impressive amount of...

    5 reverse gears one forward

Been there, done that... Maybe we need a T-shirt. Did that last year. Brother pulled the deuce into a tree and did a stall and an instant restart on the rebound, of course in the same gear. While he was looking to find what happened to reverse, I was looking at all the smoke coming from the...

    Blackout Drive Bulb

The blackout light system was intended to make the vehicles stealthy at night. ( How's that again? Kind of hard to imagine a deuce as stealthy.) Well, make them harder to spot from that air anyhow. My brother says that although they provide enough (usually) find the curb on the road he'd rather...

    The LDT-465 that ran backwards

Thanks for the info FreightShaker, I did have concerns about the bearings after the event. We were taking her out for a parade and all the guages looked good and the engine sounded happy so we went. We figure that between the time for me to stand there with the smoke blowing through the air...

    The LDT-465 that ran backwards

The reply from GrayShadow All that is well and good....but I was sitting in the driver's seat. This WAS NOT a tale from Granny's brother's rotton kid. The **** thing ran backwards. No ifs, ands, buts or maybes ! :jumpin: Reality has a bad habit of distroying scientific theorys...Sorry......

    The LDT-465 that ran backwards

Grey Shadow and I were maneuvering our deuce in a tight area. He pulled forward and wacked a tree in first gear (compound low). The truck stalled and restarted. Shadow started exclaiming that the gate was gone; he couldn't find reverse. The truck would only go forward in that gear. In the...
