Please listen to these people. They are really just trying to help. If I didn't stop a project when I realized I'd screwed up at the beginning, and just decided to bull through... Well, let's just say there are a few projects I started on that I simply discarded and labled as a...
Looks good. Since it is steel, sit in the driver's seat and make sure you don't wack your arm on the box when you move the steering wheel. I mounted a power control box on the back of the cab and I decided to change to a box with less depth to avoid just that problem.
I am so jelous... I used to work for a TV repair shop and we ALWAYS had to hump those things up - the - stairs... * gasp, cough, sputter * Worse than that it was just at the point where vacuum tubes were just being phased out... Oh the pain of it all...
Keith, I wouldn't call that a hijack. It fits right in. Maybe there should be a separate forum for people who are faced with local or state problems so there is an obvious place to go for people to go to see how the problems get answered.
Just a thought. 2cents
Now the CC&Rs are in the form of a contract that was signed as part of the home purchase. That means that they can and often are more restrictive than any of the city codes.
Just as a thought... You might want to check through or hire someone to check through state law on CC&Rs. It appears...
First MV law: If it works don't fix it.
Second MV law: If you want to add to it, know what you are doing.
Third MV law: If you screw up... Well, we are here.
Seriously, the truck wiring was designed for 24V, and all the systems are designed for it. If you want or need 12V add a piggyback...
HOAs have always been the bane of existance for those who want to be different. Talk to the hams about them and antennas...
However here is a story about a friend who fought with a HOA. She eventually moved, but when she wanted to. Hope you enjoy this.
Jeanette was living in a condo and she...
I took my 5WPM test with my novice in the 70s. Went to tech, then general. Still remember the code but just well enough to follow slow code. For current types theory is the thing. Understanding how things work is important. Maybe those skills will transfer to other fields. ( I've been called...
Almost all LED bulbs are dimmable.
The problem tends to be in support circuitry. The 120 volt LEDs for example sometimes have voltage regulation circuitry that tries hold a certain voltage to the LED group/cluster until the dimmer starves the voltage regulator and it just shuts off. That is...
You CAN do it. When I went for my extra, I got the book, decided I needed some work, took some on-line tests, was averaging 'bout 70%... Yup, thought I could do it with some study. Checked for when the next test was scheduled... Whatdoyoumeantomorrow? Crap.
Decided to take the test even if I...
The only bad thing I've heard was the pulsing of the unit can affect radio equipment. The suggestion was to use a relay to take it out of circuit when the accessory switch was activated. Of course a heavy duty choke ( a coil ) woulwired is series with the radio equipment wouldn't hurt.
Murphy?
I've found that if a friend needs to do something important, all they need to do is have me work on my old computer. Murphy is so busy laughing at me he never notices my friend working on his project. :)
I agree with tennmogger, the relay is the way to go. Besides that, if you really have that dangerous urge to run your radio with the ignition off, you can put a switch on it for auto ( with the ignition ) or manual. If you do so, add an indicator light so you don't do the battery discharge...
Rather than using a voltmeter to check things out, build a device that loads the circuit. Easiest one is a couple of test leads and a 24 volt bulb wired together. Quick test for power, quick test for grounding problems. Just depends on where you clamp the leads. ( I suggest an alligator clip on...
Wiring
I found that a chunk of heat shrink tubing does wonders for getting the wires up the poles and through the narrowed passage at the top end of the poles. Just carefully pull the wires through with another piece of wire and be sure to attach something so the other end of the coiled cord so...
