I try to err on the parinoid side of things... When I installed my 12v system, I used a set of relays to isolate things. Got them from a local ( Cleveland, Oh ) place called Electronics Surplus. They work just fine. Sorry, no part numbers for you though.
The accessory switch itself is just a big heavy switch; no relays to complicate things. When you hit the starter button you are actually energizing a relay that powers the starter moter. If I were you, I'd get a cheap amp meter ( 5 or 10 amp on the high range. ) and see how much the relay coil...
Must have been a fruitcake! The last one I got I decided to use for a clutch plate on my deuce... The only problem is the fruit bits are wearing grooves into my presssure plate.
No reason why you shouldn't be able to.
The processes used to create synthetic oil make more consistently sized molecules and don't have the contaminants found in normal oil. The consistent size of the molecule chains allow for better lubrication over an improved temperature range and a longer...
That is wild! A cross between an A2 and an A3. Simply wild! I like it! The best part is, no one else has one.
M35A2.5 - Truly a collector's ride. Take good care of her.
Hey... Once you have a trailer chassis, there is no reason to limit yourself to the box it comes with. Build your own. If my dad could build a camper back in 1930 based on an axel and spring suspension from an old Chevy. And we were still using it to haul stuff in the 1980s... I'd like to think...
Hmmm, the approach of telling her you bought a real gem for her might be dangerous... Stick with: "Honey.... I was looking for something we could do together." I've got two women friends who would grab my hand and say: "Lets go!"
I hate splices too! I try to avoid them whenever I can reasonably avoid them. I'm also a big fan of solder, a little bit of electrical tape to protect the soldered joint and heat shrink tubing to dang well make the joint water proof. There is no such thing as paranoia when Murphy is lurking in...
And Yes this will absolutely positively work as promised.
What My circuit does also keeps the function of the parking lights. Cost is under $5.00. I
t comes down to, if you don't care about parking light function then you jumper.
If you care about having parking lights you use the diode in...
Just went to Radio Shack and grabbed a 3 amp diode with a peak inverse voltage above 30V. ( 3 amps would handle 72 watts of lights, plenty of leeway and no worries about the component heating up ) Turned out to be 1N5402. Looked it up: Catalog #: 276-1143
I also trimmed and folded the leads and...
FYI: The reason for disconnecting the ground from a battery in a battery box is mechanical safety. By isolating the batteries from ground, accidental grounding any part of the power side of the batteries will have no effect. Useful when tightening battery cables with steel tools.
Normal...
Uhm... If you are planning to run the two battery sets in parallel there may be some problems because batteries tend not to have the same exact voltages. There are reasons you don't want an unbalanced battery system.
Simply: The lower voltage batteries set voltage of the system. They drain...
I went fancy, I put a hulking diode across the wires rather than just jumpering it. Parking lights still act as parking lights, front ambers are also now running lights.
There may be precedent. As I recall: In getting ready for Desert Storm, one of the army bases got a bad batch of paint... The first batch of M1A1s they repainted with what was supposed to be desert tan... Came out pink.
They had to be repainted but for a while the US had pink armor. So Spicy...
Of course if you rectify to output, you could use it to charge a battery bank. Batteries don't care what frequency the DC lumps are that are feeding them, only the voltage. ( Yes you'd need to run the output through a transformer. ) After that use the batteries to drive an inverter.
Ugly - Yes...
I've actually seen a couple yo-yos jump start an old 12v car off of an old 24v jeep... Like 30 some years ago.
Yes, the car started and I still don't understand how they didn't fry anything.
Heck, I was at least expecting a small hydrogen flare with all the sparks I saw when they put the...
Uhm... Actually I did use an acetylene torch but that was to cut the bolts off of the broken slats at the top of the troop seats. When I put stakes in to hold up the bows, I made sure the wood was nice and loose. I figured the bows would hold everything in place. Worked just fine. Of course...
