I had a similar issue on my M923A2... I discovered that the transfer case button was stuck in and it would kill the engine as soon as I shifted into reverse... it has something to do with opening a valve in the transmission to relieve the pressure on the transfer case... it works OK if you are...
M923A2 in Snow
This is a picture of my latest M923A2 in the snow. We had about 6 inches of snow on the ground when I parked it and another 4-5 inches the next day. I was going to take it for a drive in the field but batteries were dead.
I'm with you. I think oil analysis results are OK to determine major issues like glycol in the oil but trying to determine excessive wear and other issues might be a little tough without a trend established with previous results. Unless you know how many miles are on the oil and other factors...
I'll put my 2cents in here too. First of all, I have never used POR-15 but I have "tested" Rustoleum in extreme conditions. In the early 1990's, I worked for a company that built a carbon steel rack to hold paint test samples in an industrial humidity test chamber. The rack was painted with...
Thanks for the feedback. I like the idea of using Poplar too. I have worked with that in the past when I was in the Casket business. We made tons of caskets out of that stuff and it was usually nice and smooth and didn't splinter much. I looked up poplar boards at Lowes and they are more...
Thanks for the feedback. I thought that Mahogany might be a good choice for this application. I actually have a few mahogany boards stashed away but not enough for this project. I'll need to check out what kind of oak I can get my hands on.
I was also thinking that I could rip some boards out...
I have a few fiberglass sideboards on my M105A2 trailers that are cracked and I'm thinking about replacing them sometime. I also have a M105A2 that has wood sideboards. I'm thinking that I just may replace the fiberglass sideboards with wood but I am wondering why the switch was made by the...
Right on...something like this is what I was takling about... It could be done the hillbilly way with a couple of 4X6 beams and 4 55 gallon drums.:grd:
I'm thinking you could just jack up the box, put some supports on each side and then slide a couple of beams across to support. You can then drive out from under it.
Just for the record, my comments were only made to relate the hard starting issues of this vehicle to my own experience with a M931A2 thinking fuel prime might be something to investigate. I clearly stated that TMs for the M1009 should be consulted. Sorry if my comments in this thread were...
On the M931A2 there is a "vent" on the IP that can be cracked open with a 10mm wrench... then use the manual pump on the engine driven lift pump...pump it by hand until fuel comes out at the IP vent and close. Check your TM for a similar procedure.
I have a similar issue with my M931A2... it appears to be losing prime in the fuel system. If it sits for a few days and I prime the fuel system before tryng to start, it starts right away. Otherwise I need to crank for a long time to get the thing to start. I'm guessing there is a way to prime...
I was able to find very affordable petcocks at my local Rural King. My first thought on obtaining new air brake hose was to go to my local NAPA store and have some made. But after doing some more research, it appears that the ends of these hoses may be "reusable" I haven't taken the hoses...
OK... I've done more research and I'm definitely going to add drain cocks to all my M105A2 trailers. Thanks to others who recommended this. I'm still not sure if my problem started with the broken air hose or if the controller is bad too.
I could not find it in the TM but, apparently, there...
I scheduled a vacation day for Friday, June 12. I hope to be able to camp one or two nights this year. Maybe even get there Thursday night. My wife enjoyed the last 2 times there. I need to get her some kind of off road truck of her own. She doesn't want a 5 ton or anything - she wants a "dune...
