So my M1009 is finally getting nice enough where the dents in the roof are bothering me, and I want to do something about them before summer.
Has anyone ever tried using dent suction cups on CARC before? Does it work, or does CARC's texture make it not adhere?
I measured my speed with a gps a number of times, I have no idea why or how but its consistently about 10% slow. As in when the speedo reads 55 its actually going about 60.
But good thing to point out Drock, these things are old now and weren't built to the highest of standards to begin with...
I've squeezed 20 mpg highway out of my m1009, but I think it's still running slightly rich even after I tweaked the fuel delivery down. More commonly I get about 18 highway, 13-14 city. It's not gonna win any awards for efficiency, but when you compare it to a gasser k5 that does 10-11 city and...
The glowing reviews of the Duratracs have kinda put em back in the running for me. And honestly they aren't THAT expensive. Or heavy, they're lighter than I thought at 43lbs.
Haven't heard any thoughts on high rolling weight with the high gears in the m1009, anyone running 50+lb tires?
So my either original, or at least not far off of original Wrangler At/s's are pretty worn down and dry rotted. Its almost time for tax refunds, and I've kicked around a few ideas on tires, but wanted to get some outside input before I make up my mind.

Is this information from the CUCV wiki accurate for the 10 bolt axles in the M1009?
Front capacity is 4.5 pts.
Rear capacity is 5.4 pts.
I ask because every other CUCV uses a dana 60 front and a 14 bolt rear, and the wiki doesn't specify what type of axle those capacities are for.
Finally fixed my excessive black smoke/mileage issue. After eliminating every other possibility, I determined the fuel adjust screw was set too high. It was likely set for right at sea level seeing as how it was originally deployed in Florida. Followed the same procedure as turning the fuel up...
Had this issue on my truck when I bought it. I didnt think it affected anything, and my original voltmeter was reading in the green, so I left it alone and paid it little mind. That is, until it didnt start lol. Its probably a diode like cucvrus is saying, but its a good opportunity to do a full...
Do you mean radial long trail t/a or plain long trail t/a? The two are pretty different from one another. The plain long trail t/as have more of a car tread look to them than the radials do.
Ive run radial long trail t/as as long as ive been driving, first on a 90s explorer, and now on a 2nd...
If youre just talking touch up carc subsitute from a rattle can matches up perfect if the original paint isnt too faded, used some in my interior. Also good to note that the carc subsitute looks radically different wet vs dry. The green looks like john deere green when wet, but then turns to...
Thanks for all the feedback. If it wasnt a part of the vehicle that would be a complete and utter disaster if it failed, I'd have no problem doing it on my own, its not that technically complicated.
Title says most of it. Got an estimate of ~$850 with parts for the job which seemed kinda steep to me. I definitely want to have it done professionally just in the event something goes horribly wrong for insurance purposes.
Any opinions?
I remember the TMs mention the lit gen 2 on startup as something normal, tells users to give the accelerator a little nudge to correct it. If the motor is cold it will cycle the glow plugs on and off (afterglow like Tinstar says) for as much as 30 seconds after startup, which clicks a relay...
Useful thing I learned is that with 100% stock suspension you can measure from the center of the hub to the top of the wheel well to see if all is well. On a Blazer (dont know about pickups) its supposed to be 22 1/2 inches on the front and 21 1/2 on the rear.
Thats sexy. Plug and play is probably for the best, I suck with doing electronic modifications.
It was actually one of your old posts that helped confirm to me my alts are operating at a safe level.
I think youre right. I dug around a bunch of old threads (which is unreliable on s.s., half of the links are 404'd from age..) and the consensus from several longtime cucv owners is im within normal operating range. My measurements today returned 14.71v from each alt on the dot.
Either my...
