I recently replaced my ignition and dimmer switch. I fixed 2 problems, but another problem came up concerning the charging system.
This is what left me stranded a weak battery. I am glad I got AAA. Advice I got here on SS.
I noticed the voltmeter was dipping slightly in the yellow. I...
I just completed replacing my ignition and dimmer switch. I also took out the whole dash to clean it up and clean the electrical connection on the wait light.
Well this fixed my engine shut down issue and the flashing wait light issue.
I drove the CUCV today about 40 miles and 5 stops. I did...
I bought a CUCV M1009 in April 2012. I am learning to repair problems as I go along. I am loving it! I am an addict. HAHA!
I quickly found that many problems are discussed in the TMs -20 and -34. What I found a problem was trying to read PDFs on my laptop and working on truck. I kept...
Hey
I am looking to replace the 4X4 instructions decal on the driver side Sun Visor. There is also an engine starting instructions decal as well.
Does anyone know a source for them? I checked LMC no luck.
I don't place it into 4X4 much, but I would like a cheat sheet if needed.
Thanks...
I noticed something slightly different in my idling. A few weeks ago I replaced the alternator regulator plug.
Now the engine will idle high for 30-60 seconds, and then it tones down a bit.
I don't think there is any engine problem at all. Everything seems normal.
I think the idle toning...
This evening While I was planning to mount a ammo can as a tool box in the back.
I was thinking at sometime I will need to overhaul the tailgate window crank.
Well today, as I was rolling up the window the crank broke off in my hand. So I guess the overhaul got moved up. HAHA!
I got a new...
Hey,
I have taken a look at my Alternator wiring plug. I am no expert, but I think it's the regulator wiring plug?
Anyway mine are in bad shape. It's time to replace as a precaution.
What's does this wiring plug do, and how important is it?
Thank You,
stationjj
I think the solenoid on my IP is going bad?
I have a problem where the engine won't shut down after you turn the engine off.
From I can determine the gp system is in good shape, and is operating as normal. The -20 TM talks about the ground wire to the ignition, but I don't think that's it...
Today I took my CUCV M1009 on it's first road trip since I purchased the CUCV in May.
We did over 200 miles today. I went to Sewanee, TN from Nashville. This doesn't sound like much, but for me it's a step. I want to take these road trip so I can get used to the vehicle in the way that it...
I am a new CUCV owner. I bought a 84 M1009 in May.
As a new owner I try to read articles on CUCVs. I sometimes learn something new or hear something I question.
Well I read something the other day that I wasn't sure about. It wasn't on this site or other K5 Blazer sites.
I read where the...
I bought my M1009 in May. The seats have been on my list of things todo.
My seats the springs are about shot. I got tears and rusted metal parts.
Also my passenger side seat doesn't lift up and tilt forward. I don't think it the original seat. It seems like driver side seat was used...
I have been looking at a headliner to add to my M1009 Blazer.
After research several people have added it to there M1008 or M1009.
I know LMC sells one for $299, plus shipping and $20 for extra large size.
Well I discovered one on JCW for $246, plus $12 extra for size and Free shipping.
The...
A costly lesson learned. Last week I started a project to add quick dis-connects to my Radio, and cleanup some wiring additions.
I had dis-connected a wire from fuse panel. It forgot it was a wire that always hot. I need to label my wires.
The hot wire touched something. I heard that pop I...
A few weeks ago I post about my hard starting issues I was having with my M1009.
The previous post Link; http://www.steelsoldiers.com/cucv/90335-hard-starting-my-plan.html
Anyway I am a new CUCV owner. I was having hard starting issues and it seemed that as it got hotter the worst it got...
The TMs are much to large to print out. Since I am a new CUCV owner and still trying to learn my way around. I thought about printing out small sections of the TMs I could place in a notebook for quick access.
I have downloaded most of TMs. The notebook could be useful since I don't have...
I have 84 M1009 with hard starting issues. I know this topic has been covered many times on the site. I have poured through countless threads and reviewed TMs searching for some clues to what may be causing the hard starting issues.
Brief history, I purchased this CUCV from a individual in...
Where can I find military specific parts for a M1009?
I am looking for rubber grommet that attached to the top for the M1009. It's part of the radio and antenna bracket. I suspect it's where the antenna cable ran through.
It's item 2 in figure 202 in the -20p TM. Part Number 15599990...
I am a new CUCV M1009 owner. Summer 2012 is almost here. I live in Middle Tennessee. I enjoying driving my CUCV, and like to haul my dog around with me in the back seat.
On a few trips it's got hot, especial if your not moving. Traffic will bake you. I have concerns with my dog. I provide...
I bought my M1009 CUCV with 24 volt still intact. When I purchased this CUCV I didn't want to do any major changes. Now after owning the CUCV for a few months now, I am considering a change to 12 volt.
I read the PDF from REC (Roscommon Equipment Company) on converting to 12 volt.
A...
My CUCV is getting harder to start. I purchased a M1009 from a private individual recently.
He had replaced the IP, starter, and GP card and relay.
After some research on SS I have no doubt I got plow plug issues. I am looking for good GPs that are ok with 24 Volt and easy install.
Here is...
