Just did a simple receiver hitch on my M1009.

When I found the hitch on eBay the guy had a lot of them for sale. The hitch was new in the box but you could tell it was probably from the 80's by the art work on it. Even if you could find it for $35 I still think it's a good deal. Yes I had to drill 4 half inch holes.

Just did a simple receiver hitch on my M1009.

I have been looking for a while to add a 2" receiver hitch on my Blazer. I finally found this one on eBay for the big sum of $10 new and $12 shipping. It fit perfectly under the pintail. I just have to hit the hardware store tomorrow for 2 longer bolts for the rear of the hitch. The rear bolts...

*(PAINT DONE PICS)*Looks like I am gonna be a proud CUCV OWN

Yes you are right, especially if you are listing to music. I see no reason for any trouble with ear plugs that are used to protect your hearing.

I was going to ask what was on the rear quarters. I never saw them before.

Ear plugs are a must. I took mine home from WI and then did a NY to KY and back again trip with my 1009. Your ears might get use to the road noise but it can't be good for the hearing. When I would stop for fuel and pulled out my plugs I couldn't believe how loud it really is inside the cab.

My DVD player install about to start.

Well here is the project so far. It took some real thinking on the internal support for the radio. I still have to drill and install better bolts for the top cover & cut openings in the back for the wiring. Then I'll pop off the trim ring, tape up the radio and give it one more shot of paint...

Ever see a starter break like this.

After months of talking about changing the flywheel and starter I finally have the time to do it. I'm pulling the tranny & transfer case because I'm going to detail the underside of the truck & fix some other things I don't like and so on. Well boy was I surprised when I pulled the starter. I...

    m1009 roof weight

I would use 3 guys. 1 inside with the other 2 standing one on each side. After you lift up just walk it right off to the back. Don't forget the hidden bolts in the back.

    Augusta, NJ on April 14-15

Well done show with some nice MV's. I got in around 8am and it was nice and quiet. By noon when I left it was pretty crowded. I really didn't find anything I needed for my truck but did pick up about 50 back issues of Military Vehicles for a song. Should keep me plenty busy for the next few months.

    M1009 Gen2 light flickers

This isn't my truck but here is a photo of the area I found the bad connector. It was one of the blue fusible links coming off the right side of the junction block. It went down to a heavy red wire that went into the big split loom. The bad connector was in between the link and the red wire...

    M1009 Gen2 light flickers

Just for the hell of it look at the fusible links coming off the junction block on the firewall. If they are like mine the links are just crimp connected to the main wires. My charging problems with the rear battery when I first got the truck came from a corroded crimp connector in that area. As...

    CUCV'S WANTED!!!

I agree. Besides the issues with my Alfa truck, my friends $8,000 1009 was a total waste of his money. It's been down more then half the time since he's had it. Non-stop elec. problems. Leaks galore. Bad brakes. Bla, Bla, Bla. I will never recommend him again.

    HMMWV tires

The first time I heard of this kit I thought it was great and was going to order it right away. Then I read this on there site [On front applications with crossover steering be aware that you will be losing clearance between the draglink and your RH spring. The full 1" from the offset Zero...
