5 ton done, needs a name, help.

Glad I could be useful. Your welcome for the name idea. Glad to see a 5 ton with a guaranteed future of usefulness. I hope to get my picture made with "Ash Kicker" and crew, if and when I get over your way.

    Deuce on a gooseneck trailer?

A deuce hauls real well on a gooseneck with 22' deck and 5' dovetail. Done it a lot. Keeping the trailer tires aired up is the key to a trouble-free trip.

    M818 24volt to 12volt trailer lights

I dont know the rating. This resistor is an automotive item made to do exactly what I did with it. I experimented with different loads to establish the exact number of resistors needed. The trailer marker lights were the heaviest load so required the fewest resistors. Weird, huh? The more load...

    M818 24volt to 12volt trailer lights

O'reilly's is where I found them. Should last a lifetime unlike relays.

    M818 24volt to 12volt trailer lights

I own six trailers that are pulled by two Mack trucks most of the time and the M818 occaisionally. Swapping bulbs are for people with one truck and one trailer combos. LED's are too expensive and are a favorite target of thieves.

    M818 24volt to 12volt trailer lights

I searched this forum more than once for the best method to pull civilian trailers with 12 volt lights. Never came up with ideas other than dead-end links, LED bulbs, 24volt relays and voltage convertors. This is what I did to get 12 volts to my trailers. If this setup has been thought of and...

Full Fenders For The 5 Ton

Thanks for the compliment on my truck. Too bad this debate is taking place within a thread titled full fenders! LOL! Wish you had started a new one titled "Does flipping the hubs affect wheel bearing life". Then we could get a LOT more opinions and more importantly facts about the subject. My...

    Military mobile cranes

Hey Wrench Wench, its hard to answer all your questions in this format. There are a lot more questions you will need answered that you have not asked yet!! I was wondering if you are a one person operation or many people. The 40' containers have the lifting points for crane lift at the extreme...

REB87, you are my new best friend!! Sticking up for me at every turn!!! LOL!! You are right , though, the tread plate was chosen because of the tread plate that was already there.

Full Fenders For The 5 Ton

This reply really needed a more in depth reply than I gave it the first time around. The wheel bearings on any vehicle are loaded in relation to the center line of the tire(single) or tires(dual). When flipping the hubs you do not move the position of the tire(or very little) and you do not move...
