Well thought I'd revive this thread. I've been going over my new GL MEP-016d. Glad I found this thread because the wiring I thought was correct was not. Someone had the fuel pump feed hooked direct to the starter solenoid, and the upper tank float switch was also incorrect. Both wires were...
GL will allow you to hire shipping co.'s to deliver your goods. I recently won a generator from Hill AFB in Utah and used Fast Track Logistics to recover and ship my goods. They were on GL's site as a preferred shipper. Everything went smooth-no damage and a timely delivery.A 300 lb item was...
Thanks again Ike, got the switch to function with some Kroil and gentle persuasion.Load tested with a heat gun, and dry vac - no problems. The plastic bottom tanks leaks from the drain hole-threads are buggered.I'll seal that up permanently.Everything seems to work great. Fuel transfers from...
Well I finally acquired a MEP-016D from GL. It came from HIll AFB in Utah. Sure is a crapshoot buying sight unseen, but that makes it fun I guess. After a visual check of the obvious search for missing parts, cut wires etc.,checked the oil and was super clean-no water. The unit was never drained...
Has anyone installed a RT524 in the cab of a M1028? If so what mount did you use beneath the MT1029 base. And where did you mount the antenna? Pics would be great if you've got them. I've searched the SS archives and can't seem to find specific info. Many thanks in advance.
Well they show a higher CCA than the 6TL's,but I've got Excide 6TL's in my 1028. One is dated 2004, and the other 2009 and they are still kicking. Nine years out of a battery is hard to beat. My local Napa has 6TL's for about 185-200$. I think I am going to stick to the military's choice.And...
Sounds like a bad bendix gear not engaging properly or bad solenoid or both. New starter time I think. If it is original direct drive , have it rebuilt. I just bought a spare takeout off fleabay for 60$.Seller said it worked fine upon takeout. They are out there used, and personally I prefer OEM...
Sounds like air in the system.I swapped my OEM filter for a spin on Standyne setup and installed a petcock bleeder out of the base.Simple filter change and bleed out of air.The OEM filter bases have been known to leak. Easy upgrade.
Thanks Isaac.I've been looking for a O16D for some time to use as a backup and charging for my solar system off grid at my mountain property. I 've been through 2 gasser Coleman's and still have green fever so I'll definitely give it a going over.Been reading all I can regarding this unit so I...
While preparing for arrival of my latest GL acquisition , I came across these manuals for the MEP-016d with Yanmar L70AE engine, and Yanmar parts list for the same engine.I have read these are hard to source, so here they are for the SS brethren...
Yeah I probably paid a decent price IF the unit works as compared to a 3k Yanmar new diesel gen set(3500$), but yes shipping is a killer from Utah to CA. 260$ shipped but still cheaper than driving there and back!
Any members bid or win any gen sets from GL on 3/4/13 ? I won my first GL item after placing many bids in the past (and being out bid) on various auctions. It is an MEP-016D out of Hill AFB in Utah. Hopefully it is as good in person as in the pics. Very low hours on the meter. Bidding on GL...
Check your vacuum lines . Start at the modulator and follow the rigid line up to the IP. I had the same problems , late shifting, eventually stuck in gear.Turned out it was a wear through in the rigid vacuum line at the firewall. The line touched slightly and developed a slow vacuum leak . It...
John,
Thanks for the explanation. My truck would not be reliable without the parts you supplied. They are difficult to source elsewhere.I hope you recover soon and wish you luck with your future endeavors.
If you do not have the SF97, home built is the way to go in CA.I went the same route on my M101a2 I bought from Hundy. He gave me a Bill of Sale. Some things in this state are still simple, but are fewer by the day.
Welcome aboard! This is a great site with good people.Lots of good info here. Next time I go to San Diego the wife and I want to check out the museums at Pendleton. We were at fleet week in September at the naval base in SD and the Marines from Pendleton were there with some great mechanized...
Ditto to others 2cents. I experienced same problem with my 1028. Replaced fuel shutoff solenoid in IP and problem solved. Part was about 110$,200 installed.I also replaced all GPs with ac60g's,new controller card ,GP relay, temp switch all from Cucvelectric, also did resistor bypass. All work done...
