you may want to slide some thin heat insulation between the exhaust and floor, under the truck. they make some self sticking reflective sheets. in my 78 civy blazer, I always had moisture under the carpeting and it rotted the floors.

buy the grounding harness.... mounts on the L side rear of the engine block, then, 1 wire to the generator, 1 wire to the PCB, 1 wire to the starter, 1 wire to the body. it will eliminate allot of headaches.
