I agree with the above statement fully. I bought my first one from a local seller. It gave me the chance to go through the truck completely and get a great idea of exactly what I was getting into. Plus the test drive sealed the deal. You may pay a little more, but it beats going to recover one...
I hate to hear about you running into someone like that right off the bat. I can assure you most Oklahoma folk are not that unfriendly. Heck if you would have moved a little further south to my neck of the woods I would have gladly let you store your deuce on my back lot. Ive got a few back...
There's a Flag run/walk vigil planned over here on Joint Base Balad, that I'm taking part in. I wish I could be home for the anniversary, I would definitely be flying the stars and stripes from the front bumper.
Thats a heck of a deal. I recently propositioned a few people to paint my M1009 with my paint. They quoted me anywhere from 1200-1800 for a vehicle that needs hardly any prep work and no rust. Just clean, mask and shoot.
Don't forget to degrease the whole truck before pressure washing. When I painted mine I used a pump up garden sprayer filled with industrial de greaser. The paint stuck to all surfaces like a champ afterward.
I too have a leaky transfer case in both of my CUCV's. Like bushhawg73, my leaks are not bad enough to prompt a rebuild. I'm lucky if I loose a quart a year. Most of my fluid is lost around the rear output shaft. The fluid loss looks way worse than it actually is. I found out in a hurry that...
Looks good. I used the same brand and color of paint on the inside of my m1009 blazer to serve as a temporary rust stopper until I can get a proper coat of paint on the entire vehicle. I really like how its holding up to wear and the various chemicals I spilled inside the back compartment.
I cant be sure about Florida, but here in Oklahoma, you have to apply for a SF-97 from Gov Liquidation (which cost $60) and once you recieve that you take it to the local tag office and do a request for title. You get the title in the mail in a few weeks. Its kinda weird too, both of my deuces...
You can never tell about GL's condition descriptions. I recently bought a M923 and in the description is said DOES NOT START DOES NOT RUN, but lo and behold I hooked the battery cables up and pressed the start button and she came to life. The same can be said for several trucks that I have...
Congratulations on the new truck. The lack of brake pressure could be as simple as lack of fluid, or it could be a number of other problems such as air pack/master cylinder going bad. When you get it running be sure to go through the entire brake system. My deuce had the same problem when I...
I became a proud 5 ton owner a few weeks ago. I orginally had won a non running 1984 m923 out of Ft. Sill Oklahoma and expected the worst when it came to the recovery. I had It pulled off base by a local towing company and took the trip down to see what I had gotten myself into. I got the...
