I realize that up armor in civilian hands is a bad idea. I just hate to see good trucks go to waste. Plus some of these trucks and Humvee's are not up armored, but they get the axe anyways. Some of the humvees have less than 100 miles on the odometer. The same goes for the armored 939s that were...
Hey guys, I have witnessed something here recently that has really stirred my curiosity. I work at a military installation here in southeast oklahoma and I regularly see up-armored M939 series trucks and FMTVs come in to be cut up at our local DRMO facility. My relatives actually work at the...
That trailer hardly ever hauls anything very heavy. Its mostly for show once I get my other M923 finished for parade season. If I have to do heavy hauling I use my HEMAT trailer.
Hey guys, I just wanted to show off an experiment I did to try and get a M105 to look right behind one of my M923's with 53's on it. This is how it came out. The trailer is using converted HEMTT wheels with 395/85/R20 Michelin MVT's. The combo tows well and I have really come to like the way it...
Sounds awesome! Will you be coming down US-69 on your way back to Texas? If you do happen to come down through the little town of Kiowa, or have any problems near there, I would be glad to lend a hand, or just check out your new toy.:-D Ill PM my phone number.
Edit.... Just checked the map, you...
Heck, Id be up for it. Ive been looking for some mud to try my 1600R20s out that I just put on my new 923. Ill probably bring more than one truck/driver.
Nice truck. I love my M109. They make pretty good rolling storage sheds if you ever need the space. That's what mine's doing right now until I get around to a camper conversion.
Nice! Although it took me a while to realize there was a tank in the pic :-D. Thats one awesome looking machine. Maybe one of these days i can get somethin with tracks.
Thanks for the comments. Yes they are a pain to deal with and find parts for but I wouldnt trade em for anything. Ordering a resto out of a book just takes the fun out of it.
Great looking truck. I love the look those big super singles give a deuce.I'm in the process of putting singles on my M109 with converted hemtt wheels I bought from M1075 here on the site and some 395 goodyear MVT's.
Nice looking progress on the 880. Ive toyed around with the idea of getting one here lately. The 77 model is my favorite year model, but I love any of em that have the bird bath hood. I currently have a 77 W100 Short box with 440/727 that is under restoration. Its about done now. I dont have any...
I had the same issue with my first M1009. I had several keys I tried from other CUCV's in my fleet and they diagnosis was all the same. I had to replace the ignition cylinder.
I had to pick my trailer up with a civi vehicle and I just used a set of those cheap magnetic trailer lights from Harbor freight. They worked well and kept me legal until I got it hooked up to my m1009.
Its good to hear that another steel soldier and his machine will be able to get back on the road again. Also from the sound of it, you may have added another member to the MV fan club.
I had my m109 do the same thing about a year ago. It turns out one of the battery connectors worked itself loose and caused an arc. It melted about half the post. I happened to convince the place that I bought the battery from that it was a manufacturer defect and got a new battery out of the...
If unnoticed, it could have made out to be an interesting auto insurance claim and/or call to the local fire department. Glad you caught it. I guess my 1008 never had anything like that.
