I went through this one time myself, quite a few years ago. I was building my garage and rented a Kubota backhoe/loader, the hoe weighed in at about 9000 pounds and the trailer put it over 10K. It was a heavy load but I knew the truck could handle it, I was using the VERY heavy duty 3/4 ton...
I have nothing to add to this thread that others have not said or covered, other than to let you know that I edited your post quoted below. Please DO NOT post with black text, with the color scheme on the site it is darned near impossible to see.
A member on here...Storeman might have some used ones for sale. The last time I saw new ones on the internet was at Erics Military Surplus.
Also maybe used ones from Delks Army Navy in Asheboro SC.
Closing this down. VERY FEW IF ANY EMP / SHTF threads make it past a day or two before the tinfoil hats start coming out. We're not about that here on Steel Soldiers.
Dave,
$350.00 each is not a bad deal...but like you said, you'll probably be sitting on the unwanted ones for a while. Even if you are like me, and sold them for what you had in them, you would still sit on them for a while. The demand just doesn't seem to be there.
Yeah Kenny, I didn't think of that at the time. I knew almost all of them were converted 1028's but I did not think about using m887.
I have the information I was hoping for now. Sooner or later I'll have a diesel powered welder/generator on a trailer or something of that sort. I've been...
Thank you, thank you Mr. The Head!!
Out of curiosity for those of us who do not posess your "search mojo" what keywords did you search? I did some with varients of "m1031" "welder" and "speed" but obviously didn't come up with the correct info.
I don't have the 1031 TM's, just the normal CUCV TM's so finding this information isn't easy...if it is even in the TM's.
I have a pretty simple request, does anybody know what the speed of the Wisconsin engine is that drives the welder/generator in the back of the M1031 (Converted M1028)?
I'm...
To do it simply, if you want to run your generator in 120 single phase only mode and you are not sure if the jumper was installed or not, when you run it in 120 only mode just put a jumper from L1 to L0 at the connection lugs. Just be sure to remove it when you change modes to something else.
No, you do not need to take it out each time you use the generator in a different configuration.
The Military didn't design it like this, someone in the military did however find that there was something wrong with the OEM set-up, hence the TB was issued to rectify the situation.
I have a...
The "double fault" jumper you are refering to is not the issue. That jumper has been placed in each of my generators and in every reconnection switch I have and have sold...no issues.
As Ike mentioned, the problem more than likely lies in the switch itself. It is not in the generator windings...
As odd as it sounds, it is possible that with the truck stationary the splines on the axle and the splines of the hub are not lined up. Depending on how many splines the axle shaft of the 1009 has the axle might have to turn quite a bit to align everything and allow the collar to engage the...
