I also like the geared lug wrench from Ken Tool. Properly braced it can move mountains. I used a harbor freight crow bar to brace it one time as i did not have both the "bars" that come with it. it easily bent the crow bar in half but broke the lug loose anyway. the long tube bar is hard to...
I recently had this problem as well. A couple years ago I rebuilt the air pack and did the service /bleed/etc. it worked fine afterwards. I put in a remote fluid reservoir but after sitting for a long while the fluid would slowly draw down. I suspect a leaking fitting or cracked pipe. will...
empty weight of the deuce is a little over 13000 pounds. it has three axles and the front carry's more than the other two when the truck is empty. but for simplicity sake, 13000 divided by three yields 4333 pounds. roughly 2.2 tons. six ton rated pair of jack stands, worst case rated 3 tons...
I often say that just before I hear a highly animated old man vocalize, in a somewhat vulgar way, his displeasure with previous and apparently inappropriate, ill-advised, regretful choices. Sometimes, it even involves excruciating pain, loss of colorful body fluids and disdainful facial...
Well you certainly have my interest. Any hints as to power type for the power steering part? I have been following your prep work for the Alaska Adventure. It has inspired me to double down on my truck.
I would be interested as well. If you get a rough estimate of cost that would be useful or need a down pay to order materials let me know. Thanks for taking this on!
Little gems are right! Based on the five lug rear wheels they must be kind of small for modern scrapers comparison. perfect size for around the farm/ranch. did they leave any lonely brothers or sisters around? nice dozer blade on the cab unit. 40's or fifties vintage?
Guyfang--is there a Nema pad or spade terminal or similar that this is designed to clamp down on rather than the bare end of your load wire? Just seems like a lot of thought went into the design of the lug only to have it crush down on a bare wire in a somewhat odd shaped hole. your thoughts?
very good grey matter stimulation. so often in life slowing down can make things go better and/or faster and be more enjoyable and last longer. While, in a pinch, you can on occasion get away with the wrong tool for the job, rarely can you say the same for technique.
Kind of a comment here--The one manufacturer you have listed, The High Speed Hammer Drill Co makes a beautiful precision bench top drill press but it does not look like the one in your picture. They have been making essentially the same design for close to a hundred years without substantial...
You have certainly taken on a challenging project considering the swiss cheese you started with. May I ask what sort of welder you are using? Are you using a seam sealer between panels? weld thru primer? are you working in all steel or combo of steel and aluminum? Some of us may want to...
I just did the same thing, replacing the old box base with a springer seat in my M275. I am trying to move the old cab mounted seat belts to the springer base. I know the bolts are different sizes. Anyone know the size/specs of the springer seat belt bolts?
I have the original large steering...
If your in a combat zone somewhere and filling your gas tank with 5 gallon cans that have been sitting behind the fender or in a quarry, mud, sand, severed body parts, shrapnel, lit cigarette etc etc the military prolly thought a little sifting of foreign matter might keep things working longer...
I would love to go as well. Went in 92 and I imagine a lot has changed on the AlCan since then. My project skill level and speed is fairly low and slow. I doubt if I will be road worthy by next summer. Love to see pics If I can't go though.
pretty cool idea! ok to ask what the components are inside? locally sourced or off the interweb? I like the nice solid project box. did you burn it in on a test bed?
never heard of franken dodge. however, as an expression, franken anything, usually means it was built using several parts that are not normally all on the same vehicle. rarely it may mean, a truck that is so over the top square headed and freakish that it is a "franken" truck. a few 5 ton...
