Cool, glad you got to stop by. As I was telling Joel thats their yard, they have another very very large warehouse across town stocked FULL of parts. I worked on some of their forklifts and wandered around quite a bit in that warehouse, which is mostly NOS items. They do have quite a bit of...
Heres a post on Pirate4x4.com of talking about affixing HMMWV portal hubs to Ford 9in centersections. Scroll down a bit to where the pictures are and you will see my posts.

There are 2 diffrent kits tho. One for the front mounts, and one for the rear mounts. Only diffrence is bracketry mostly and some extra long hoses.

The CTIS is worthless yes, but the A2 hubs have bigger imput shaft splines and bigger CV axles. They changed a few of the other things in the hubs to bring the GVW capacity up from what the 998s were. Ive got a bunch of pictures on my other computer of the A1 vs A2 hubs Ill see if I can dig them...
That must be a pretty current 998 as those are newer added shims(not slotted) to compensate for extra weight, it acheives more of a base Camber setting. Been doing alignments and frame buildup on them for quite a while now. Why are you trying to take them out? Heres the easy way to replace...
Red River Parts and Equipment is right off I30 coming into Texarkana. They are a small yard but have plenty of parts. http://www.redriverparts.com/

Wow, thats a greatly detailed story about those brave guys. Glad to see a good outcome to that story as well. The military has not only some of the finest soldiers, but some of the best equipment as well!

I work right accross from Red River Parts and Equipment, and Ive yet to venture in that place other than to service their forklifts! Ive got to go one weekend and walk around, they have a bunch of crap from what I can see.

Just think of a long wheelbase Jeep, about 4 ft wider, with no top, and thats a HMMWV. But, they are pretty darned fun, for a play toy. With overall gearing in the diffs/hubs in the high 5.xx they are not a highway vehicle at all. An OD tranny would cure that. Not much power, but I belive more...
One place they tend to ground out is where the harness routes right above the steering column. It tends to rub the column and ground out there. That will make a bad mess very quickley. I doubt this is your problem, but you might as well check it and insulate it a bit better. Its a VERY common...
Gotcha, you guys have much trouble with the new PS pumps? Have to change them out pretty regularly? I know they dont want to steer very well, if at all. Just curious as to how long they are lasting over there.
Its pretty neat to see all the add-ons you guys put on over there. When we rebuild it...
