I always felt the 24v set up in a vehicle serving civillian duty was sort of asking for trouble, sure if you have a motor pool behind you with all the 24v parts you need and all the other riggs were 24v then it makes sense, but if your out in the boonies and you need a alt., glow plug / relay...
has anyone changed out their motor + tranny mounts? I can't seem to find them, they have listings for sbc and bbc but nothing that specificaly says 6.2 diesel, I would prefer the pollys unless the rubber ones hang in their, any opinions as to either one??
actualy the drivers side alt goes to the 12v block on the fire wall to provide juice for 12v stuff you'll notice two blue wires on this block one comes from the drivers side alt the other goes into the ground of the passenger side alt. The passenger side alt takes the 12v from the drivers alt...
I had my glow plugs set up on one batt for a while and it does work but there is some extra strain on that one batt and it could shorten the life of it, I am running optima yellow tops so I figured it could handle it for a couple of months until I got 12v stater and did the conversion!! now it...
the 24volts comes from the two alts working in series, can you run the chargers in series?? sure you could charge each batt individualy but not connected together :freaked:
I had thought about getting one and putting some jumper clamps on the other end so if someone needed a jump I could just pull up, plug in all without opening the hood [:)] "I have 12v conversion on mine" you know so the enemy doesn't catch you in a vonerable position :nono:
if you look under the "glow plug update" thread there is a picture of the four pin controler/ relay, it is the 12v civy version. That may have been the one you got.
there was or is one on e-bay brand new, you may want to check your fuses and make you got the right ones in the right places the controler card is pretty isolated from engine electrics except for the two wires that go to the relay, check those for voltage too. Make sure the dropping resistor is...
the 60g seems to be the plug of choice, I went with the autolite #1110 , you just need to some isullated 1/4 female tang connectors and to change them out with the smaller miltary issue. "if it hasn't already been done"
I got a black dash replacement from j.c. and the only complaints are that it is a little short on the drivers side where it comes down around the dash bezzle 3/4" and the tabs that you screw the bezzle into are kind of flimzy, other than that it fits great and looks good, I dont think that there...
the smallest diameter you can fit on the 14 bolt and dana 60 is 16" I got mine from pro comp 17" x 9" black steel with the circle cut outs, you can see a pic in members rides, if your planning on running larger tires 35" and up a slighty larger rim will give a little better sidewall stability...
I have checked the tranny cooling lines , harmonic balancer, flywheel bolts to converter, and driveshaft the noise doesn't start until I'm actualy moving over 5-15 mph, and is there even when decelerating, if I hit the brakes no change, I did notice the bolt that ties the oil dip stick to the...
the drive shaft is clear I do know that I think there would be marks on it if something was rubbing, I have noticed when I pull the shift lever down into drive I hear a jingle jingle in the same pitch and tone as when moving so I am thinking more in the direction of the transmision but turbo...
I am pleased to announce the 12v conversion was a success!! I power washed the bottom of the engine and tranny to clean it up "makes it a lot easier". I made sure to clean the bolt holes and bolts for the new starter. the only issue I encountered was the rear support bracket, I loosened the...
