If your truck is still set up with the 24 volt starter then the jumper socket will be 24 volts you can change the leads that supply the jumper socket and put on the front battery and then use it !

Yes you will need to change the flywheel! And as stated you should change the converter and gov springs but as stated will not burn the trany up unless trany is bad to start with My brother has one with a deisel trany and as stated the shift points are way off but has run for about 2 years now...
Also a little note . Most of the newer stuff uses neg switched lites and the older stuff like the cucv uses pos switched lites just keep in mind so you check what the system you get was made for rather it will work on what you want to put it on as far as the lites anyways! just not plug and play...
