I have been thinking on he same subject for when I eventually spring for a locker.
I wouldnt put it on the front axle due to the difficulty of steering w/out power steering combined w/a locker.
The rear axle might not always have good contact with the ground (from some of the off-roading...
the carc is pretty rough stuff and i would think the liner would easily have something to grab to. Sandblasting would be the ideal "correct" was to do it if you can afford it
I ran CLR through my first deuce (and my old ford diesel) when I bought it....you should have seen the crap it pushed out. Like Jik said...dont leave it in there too long.
i ran 20mins w/CLR, flushed w/h20 then ran CLR again for another 20mins before refilling w/antifreeze. It worked quite...

there are a pretty good group of guys here, Im sure if you ask nicely (or buy dinner) they might hook a tow bar to it and haul it the 25miles w/their deuce
