I think that you have to find a truck within reasonable recovery distance that looks to be in good condition. All Gl lots are supposed to be secure, but if one that is 2000 miles away might be better it would cost more to pick it up than the possibility of something missing and having to spend a...
It just unscrews, dissconnect the rubber hose and IIRC a 13mm wrench and it screws off . clean with some spray carb cleaner and the glass ball should be clear and not stuck.
Also be sure that the pink wire on top of the IP has a clean and tite connection.

Why don't you flip one on top of the other, put a wooden stake in the corner pockets and lash them down, Providing where you pick them up will load with a fork lift and you can access one to unload.

I got mine from a member that was parting one out. A few of the plastic mounting studs were broken but it works. LMC has a few in their catalog that would look pretty good.
When I was in there were certain things that had to be aquired to accomplish the mission. As long as it did not interfere with another units mission it was game on.
Epoxied in the pass side mirror after it fell out, luckly it leaned out and rested on the door and I was only doing about 10 mph and was able to stop and save it. Other than that it starts and runs great.
