So I test fitted to see if it would fit... Awe man! It doesn't!!!!! The wheel wells are in the bloody way! Ok ok no problem. I called up my bro and asked if he had a sawzall. Yep!
The camper had a lower lip on the front preventing it from sliding it all the way to the front of the trailer...
Ok! Looking good! Now for the camper:) 1970 Alaskan vintage rare old school pop up camper. She is loaded with a fridge/freezer that runs off of either, 110v or propane or 12v, 3 burner propane stove, 30 gal water tank, sink, radiant heater (propane), table that converts into bed, 2 1/2 gal...
I think some bigger tires is needed. Found me a cheap set of alum 16.5x10 rims and 35/12.5/r16.5 BFG A/T tires. I got them mounted, balanced and cleaned up. Then slapped them on the trailer.
I'm tired of tents, setting up camp, cold hard ground, cold/hot temps, being exposed to snow and rain, etc... I'm getting old!! Lol! So I've searched and researched and figured out what I want! I want a camper/trailer that can handle almost any terrain, extreme weather conditions, heavy duty and...
I took off the front stock bumper and the tow points and the shop removed the old hangers, rivets and crappy stock shackles. Then installed the Diy4x.com b52 and beyond front hanger, 56" springs, axles, 7.25 shackles, Dana 60 and adjustable spring plates. All mocked up.
Here's progress pics.
I finally got a good old school alum set of 16.5 rims with a good offset and in great shape threw a local private sale $100 for the 4 of them. I then finally got the 37/12.5/r16.5 military radial tires I've been waiting to get. Got them mounted and balanced. They look sexy!
Thank you! Yea... They went out of business a long time ago. I've wanted that rear bumber for years and I got lucky! Some guy had a suburban with it on and I randomly asked him if he wanted to sell it and he said yes. I guess he was going to cut up the body so he did not need it anymore. Also it...
Thanks! I got an m101a2 few days ago. I'm gonna put my Alaskan popup camper on it and tow it behind the blazer when it's finished. I figure that part of the build will be the icing on the cake that I'll post later:)
I got the truck tailgate idea from ck5.com. Most the members that have upgraded...
Yep! I can't wait to finish her! The goal is to get her 80% finished by Easter 2012 so I can piss some Heeps off at Moab[thumbzup]
I want to keep it street legal yet still be able to do 4-5 rated trails
The new seats came with the m1009 as part of the purchase already installed. It was a...
Your truck is old. I had air getting in my fuel lines from old dried out cracked hoses on the fuel tank lines and air from the filter mount knob on top. For the colder weather I installed a manual toggle switch to control the glow plugs on/off time. Also a 1000 watt block heater:) Hope this helps.
I snagged a blazingoffroad.com rear bumper from a local sale and a 60 gallon fuel cell/toolbox combo. Currently waiting to be installed. The goal is to remove the stock fuel tank and replace it with this fuel cell/tool box and install it behind the driver/passenger seat after I remove the rear...
For tires I'm going to have 2 sets. First set will be the hard rubber 60k-80k mile rated Goodyear 37" Military M/T's for the daily driving/light off-road.
This set will get some normal Aluminum non-bead locked 16.5 rims
Second set will be for strict off-road. I'm still trying to decide what...
