did you ever fix your leaking fuel filter?

    ok...here we go...

It definitely sounds like air in the fuel/loosing prime. You said that it will start and run for 1-2 seconds which would indicate it's burning off what little diesel is left in the IP, then it starts sucking air. It running for that short of a time, and then it taking multiple attempts in...

    U Joint again?

What do you mean upside down? Im ASSUMING that you meant you had it to where the grease fitting was facing in towards the yoke and not out to where to you could grease it? :cookoo:

    CUCV 1009 daily driver?

My 1009 is my daily driver. I put about 45 miles on it every day and the more I drive it, the more I love it. Everyone before me is right though. Be prepared to replace parts, as it is 25+ year old vehicle. On the bright side, most of these parts are readily available. As far it you being a...

    U Joint again?

Is the slip yoke clean/free of corrosion? Is it possible that your yoke might be slightly bent? I just put a "Precision U-Joint" P/N 534G from O'Reilly Auto parts on my 1009 last weekend. It was a little tight, but nothing like what you're describing. Can you post a picture of how close (or...

    Oil Leak

Well you got lucky Florida! I guess you can chalk it up to a lesson learned-PAY ATTENTION to the IDIOT lights!! [thumbzup] Now you just need to find another line (maybe napa can fab one for ya, or you can get the GM number for that particular line out of the TM's and head to your dealer) and...

    First time buyer...

read the rules diesel. That's not an 87. The original CUCV's were made between 1984-1986. If it were my post, I would edit it, and delete the craigslist posting before a moderator deletes your entire post.

    Oil Leak

get some engine degreaser, and clean the engine and engine bay. refill your motor with oil and IF it still runs, check for leaks when you start it. Start with the basics. Check your oil line fittings right below the oil filter, check your oil pan gasket, valve cover gaskets, front main, rear...

Changing the diff with break cleaner ?

:ditto: I wouldn't even try to clean the inside-IMO it's just a waste of brake parts cleaner! Just drain it, inspect the guts and run a magnet through the residual in the bottom of the pumpkin, close it up, refill it, and get back on the road!

    sea foam/spin on question

:ditto: I just put it in the tank.... while putting it in the spin on MIGHT work, I wouldn't do it simply because that motor would just be running off 95% sea foam and 5% diesel until it ran all the sea foam through. I dont KNOW if that would be harmful or not, but I'd rather not find out. If...

    Electric fuel pump

I have an electric pump that runs off of the ignition switch. It hasn't shut off if the pump is running but the truck isnt. The pump has been on for a couple of minutes without the truck running, and I haven't had any issues. (i dont keep it on any longer then I have to w/o the truck running...

    lift help

If you SEARCH the forum for lifts for the CUCV's, you will find MULTIPLE threads concerning it. Rough country has 2 inch lift kits for these....pretty much any 4wd site has 2 inch options. i did the RC 2 inch. it was blocks in the rear and 2 inch springs in the front with shocks. IMO, it...

    Uncommon modification on new CUCV

My 1009 has A/C. From what I can gather, all of the components came from k10 with a 6.2. Both of my alternators are on the passenger side of motor, one on top of the other using a GM bracket. A/C works great, minus a small leak at the condenser.
