Thanks for this post, I am going to check the ones in my most recent M1009 purchase to be sure they are OK. The maintenance records show they were recently replaced, but if they are Wellman plugs I will replace them for peace of mind.
This should help and welcome to the CUCV club.

I just bought a M1009 and in the auction pictures I could see something was on the antenna bracket, but had no idea what it was. I really did not know what it was, thought maybe a bucket hanging off it. Well when I picked it up it was a strobe light on a folding pole that had a switch right nest...
Thank you, I need to replace the one on my M1031 as there is no heat at all. It would be nice to get real USA made heater cores, but times have changed.
If your Suburban 1500 has 6-lug wheels as to what it looks like in the pictures, it is not a 3/4 ton as both the 2WD & 4WD 2500 Suburbans all had 8-lug wheels. If it was a 94-99 Suburban 6.5L diesel regardless of being a 1500 or 2500, it would have 8-lug wheels on the 2500 frame. You may have a...
That may be so, but I highly doubt the NYS DMV data base was incorrect here with identifying the "J" code as a gas and not a diesel. The eight digit is "J" and that is a diesel engine, a standard with all GM vehicles. It was entered incorrectly by your buddy, it is not the NYS DMV database that...
My M1009 has been parked for about a month now and just moved around the driveway a few times as I have been driving my Suburban. I had it sitting in the same spot not moved for about 2 weeks and when I got in to move it the brake pedal went all the way to the floor. Look and no fluid in the...
The D30 or K30 has nothing to do with the fuel type, the 30 is the ton rating and has nothing to do with what engine is in the truck. The "K" is 4X4 and a "C" would be a 2WD. The "D" is just GMs code for military/postal vehicle and is the same as a K30, but has 1/4 more springs to make it a 5/4...
I had one in a 99 Super Duty and it was great as I had my scanners and CB radio up there. Since my Super Duty was a manual I did not have floor space for anything, so it was perfect and worked well. I thought about putting one in my 90 Suburban, but have not done so yet. I found a used one for...
This is a Canadian vehicle, they did things differently for the Canadian Military. So I am not surprised that a Suburban CUCV type vehicle was provided to them by GM.
It is allot of work to do that, I have looked into it and I just do not have the shop for that type of project. I will just keeps it as is and continue my search for a cheap base 6.2L 3/4 4WD Suburban and build another one. The the lowest price on the perfect Suburban base 4X4 I found over the...
I will see what I can find, the last pick and pull the interior was not in great condition, but few yards around here will junk a box body GM that has not been completely stripped.
I do not mind, but keep in mind this is a very labor intensive task as everything inside has to be covered to...
Granted this is a 1990 GMC Suburban but routing on a CUCV will be very similar through the access holes in the radiator support. It is easier to do this with the grill out, but you can from the underside. Since the harness is yellow I added black tubing so it cannot be seen. I will wrap the...
It would be a M416 as I can see where the fenders were 1/2 octagon and not round as a M100 would be. It does not have the correct wheels, but it is a M416 military trailer
Ok we get it, you like Treadwright tires...... But I also like them as well since I have two sets of 265/75R16 on my CUCV vehicles. Price is great and I have never read or heard about anything bad with these tires. I know everyone is saying all these different brands, but for $100 a tire it is...
It is a used one from the parts truck I noted in a past post where I got the rest of the interior from. That is why I was not so upset when I messed up the cut as it was used and did not pay allot for it. Finding a good headliner used can be tough, generally they are already stripped out when...
