Great pictures guys.
Well I got the peripherals removed tonight on the right
Gonna pull the remaining plugs over the next day
or so
Bert did you use a ball peen on those?
Thanks for the picture a Bill
I'm only seeing 6 in the pictures
I know there's one behind the plate under the water
pump near the timing chain cover and I thought
For sure there was another just above where
The tranny bolts up. I'm not sure why I thought
there were so many
Warren I had a cap...
Going to attempt to remove the peripheral items and
Fender in the next day or so and remove the 4 plugs I can
see and replace them with another five new ones.
On drivers side. Now I know where those are also one in the
back that I can't get to because of firewall and the one
behind or below the...
thanks for all the replies.
I should've mentioned they are the disc type
so they seat against a ridge in the block.
Tanner mentioned something about the "dome" side
facing in.
Also the napa guys said the same "dome" faces water jacket.
now I am really confused....
TM1840a does not show the...
Ok so if I am reading correctly
They should be flat if installed correctly not
Remain slightly convex?
If so they were installed wrong
I knew the originals were perfectly flat
Ok so finally after getting the motor completed and installed
After running her in etc
I took it on the road after a 1/2 hr run in driveway.
All appeared fine so off we went
After a mile and a half she over heats....
Open the hood and a core plug ( some people call it a
"freeze plug" ) had...
Carter thanks
Hinge works fine on mine. Like I said in pm
I wanted to sand blast and wasnt sure if there was
A bushing around those bolts. I'll try again to break
Them out, if not I'll leave them and grind it by hand
Fun fun I need to locate a copy of that parts manual
Warren I know, I know right!?
Sometime in its day the goverment gods saw fit to convert it
Probably when they installed the radios in the back.
Would've like to put it in the back but I put the radios
Back in the way they had them.
By the way when I take to your show next year , will you walk...
Carter
Thank you
I had installed it wrong. I had one of the nuts #8 behind that
Stop cam #4. So it looks like the release lever ( not shown) would
Sit between the 2 nuts # 8 then? With the spring(not shown)
Against the bolt # 8 closest to the flange # 5
Ok so to take a break from minor issues on my newly rebuilt engine
(has become way to tedious)
I decided to remount my spare tire carrier at cab to pass a day or so before I jump back in.
Its been off for three years (since start of resto)
Thing is- I cant remember if there is some sort of...
I have a few hundred pics to post from the point above to
The complete engine rebuild (hopefully its done this up coming week)
Unfortunately for me every thing you could possibly replace
Had to be replaced. On top of recieving bad parts or misrepresented
Parts its been a nightmare!! I hope to...

Had to be replaced. I hope to resize for posting shortly.
I may post in my album due to number of threads...
Al I want to thank you for posting that manual.
Apparently it is a rare as hens teeth. So much so
The one guy I found that had one would only let me look through
It but not take it to scan. You've saved me a fruitless
Hunt
I did find someone today with an original
But he is reluctant to let me even hold it!
He has read the info to me....
Understandable as it obviously can't be replaced
I'm going to ask if I can scan it and make a PDF
In the mean time the search continues
