I drove my truck about 30 miles yesterday with the air ride seats installed. Lumbar, seat angle, adjustable back angle, air just right, and they are less comfortable than the factory spring seat... I'm putting the spring seat and original passenger seat back in. I'll get my 3rd person spot...
I put my m35 bed on a hay wagon frame. Now, with the troop seats installed, I have an awesome hayride wagon, or with them out, a still versatile wagon for many farm uses. Pics in my album or in the thread "getting closer to bob" where I documented my build. My dad took the 105 frame and had a...
Great! Learn from our mistakes. I used a Reyco air ride on mine, and it rides great, but I WAY prefer the freight liner air ride that is truly independent side to side, with no cross bar. My 13 year old son and I cut ours down and had it on its feet in about 2 weeks doing everything...
Anyone else want to chime in? Surely there are several running 14.00's that can offer some guidance...
Maybe whats been said is correct. I don't doubt it, just want to hear frome experience. Sometimes experience outweighs theory. :deadhorse:
I'll give everything a good greasing. I know that helps take up some space, but it is temporary. Since I haven't put the front end on jack stands, I'll do that and see if anything needs attention. It's not bad, but it does seem like more effort is necessary to turn it than should be at speed...
I read the TM and fully understand the 1/8" toe in recommended for the 9.00's. Using simple math, we should be at more like .150 toe in with 14.00's (1/8 is to 39 as .150 is to 47). I checked mine today using a staple in the tread at 23" from the ground on the front of each tire, got 66-7/16"...
I adjusted the toe, and she does handle better. I'm going to do the caster thing too next week. I am at about neutral toe-wise. I'll do some more accurate measuring once it's on jack stands for the machining on the front spring supports. A staple in the tread on each tire does aid in making...
Yep, my wounds were self inflicted. Through the help of rrrr and the TM, I was able to determine that I was feeding live air to a dead trailer brake output. Once I plugged both ends of that line I had added, put my old governor on, and bled the brakes, life was good and the truck was building...
Look at post #9. I'm back to that, wondering if this is self inflicted. Is that air line too small to provide air to the valve from the tank? Maybe more volume is required to shift it???
Got the rebuilt airpak installed last night. Topped off the master cylinder with DOT 5. Started the truck, and watched to see if I build air pressure. NOPE. No change. So I now have a rebuilt airpak and a new governor on there, and I'm still not building air. Air is blowing out of the vent...
I measured my toe last night. Doing a pretty quick, but reasonably accurate measurement at the fat part of the tire at axle height both in front of and behind the axle, I am currently toed out 3/8". Do I need more, or is more towards zero toe or neutral better? I'm guessing from the above post...
I completely rebuilt the airpak yesterday in about 4 hours. Yes, I made sure I got the pushrod seal and the piston seal in there correctly. Cleaned everything up with gas, blew it all off well with air, lubed it all with new DOT 5, and reassembled following the TM with my iPad. I used a very...
So should I toe it out AND adjust the caster both? Modifying the caster angle looks simple enough judging by the pictures on here. Of course, changing the toe in / out is easier yet!!
Here are a couple of pics. Rebuilt the airpak completely yesterday, but friends stopped by so I did not get...
I wondered if the track width was the issue or if you can get the bed high enough that the issue goes away. I have several folks answering both ways. Some say space the 105 bed up and you will be fine. Others say I have to re-tub the bed to make the 14.00s fit. Is anyone running 14.00's with...
Reyco air ride in the rear! I'm wondering if the 3" spacer between the frame and bed and running "level" will be adequate? If I knew the dimensional difference the hub flip makes, I think I can figure it out mathematically. Starting my airpak rebuild-right now!
I have the 14.00's mounted on my truck now, but I'm running the rear wheels dish in with the M-105 bed. I've read several posts saying there may be interference with the bed if you flip the rear hubs. I do have a 3" spacer between the frame and the bed. Will I be ok? Can anyone tell me the...
My local tire shop specializes in OTR, buses, and dump trucks. They mounted my 14.00-20's on my stock rims and said they "dropped on" since they spaced the wheel up up off the ground and then dropped the tires on the wheels. New tubes, new flaps, mounting, $422 out the door.
I got my 14.00-20's mounted up and on the truck! Wow! What a change in stance and attitude! I now have Eleven 9.00-20's, some almost new, and 8 wheels along with M35 top bows available. I can see that I will have to make the caster modification to make it handle better, or play with the air...
Got my 14.00-20's today from Feltz Tire. Man these things are huge and they are in GREAT shape. Thanks Rodney! I have flaps and tubes on order at the local tire shop. Once my airpak is rebuilt and the rear hubs are flipped, the tires go on. Then it will be time for paint. I cant decide...
